ObjectDock Plus improvements?

Could these be implimented into the next build?

Saturday, April 12, 2008 by xeriouxi | Discussion: Stardock Support General

Hi!

I've been using ObjectDock for quite a while now and love it. I'm using the latest beta build and it's going fantastic... but I was curious if these 4 minor things could be added/fixed in the next build?

1) On the main dock at the bottom, whenever i minimize a full-screen window or click on the desktop, the dock seems to always be on top of the start menu as shown in the picture below:

I have it set to hide in the background when not in use. Will this little thing be fixed as I don't remember it appearing in previous builds?

2) Can the option to directly centre tabbed docks be implemented? I know you can manually move it, but surely it can't be hard to be able to have the slider like the other dock has?

3) When I add Steam games to the dock, they all have the same icon as they run through the steam.exe file. How can I make them have different icons?

4) Have the option for the shortcut to always run as administrator instead of right-clicking and selecting it.

Thanks in advance!

I think what is the shadow of the skin that is applied. Try changing your back ground into something crisp and sharp and see if the same thing occurs.

2) I can put this in as a feature request.

3) Right click on the icon and go to properties. You can change the icon through there. Download more through Wincustomize.com.

4) Not sure about that. I will ask. If it is possible I will place it in as a request.

+1 for #2. Having an option to automatically center a tabbed dock would be awesome, I have such a hard time knowing if it's really centered or not.

Would you prefer a snap to location while manually moving the dock or a setting in the menu saying, posistion = center?

Menu position = center would probably be better. Some of the backgrounds aren't really centered within themselves (particularly with shadows on the right side) and if they snap to center some will probably still appear off-center, and you won't be able to nudge them a little.

Thanks for the reply! I went back to the non-beta version of ObjectDock and the problem with the shadow didn't appear there, but did in the beta version, FYI!

Good to know, thank you for updating me. However did you get the current beta through Stardock Central or Impulse. They are on different versions.

xeriouxi,

I use OD with my Steam games too. Usually if you go to the installation directory for the individual games, there is an icon there you can use.

I got it via Impulse. I re-tried it however and I think it might have been outdated graphics drivers! My apologies if that was the case and thanks for your excellent support!

Aha! Thanks very much for that! Helps with the really obscure games on Steam! =D

Glad I could point you in their direction. Well, I figure if I spread 'em around, it might encourage her to make more.
