Hi Carguy1 , i am trying to create some dreams , i have some very beautifull HD footage of nature , i am using TMPGenc xpress 4.0  , but i have came across one problem , lets say i have a seamless loop , when i export it , there will always be a slight pause at the end , not even one second , but it is noticeable , i have tried all the options , Mpg1 , Mpg2 , sometime its is almost not noticeable , but still there is a slight pause at the end making the dream not flowing well .  I also tried making a dream with sound , and the sound also stops with the video , can you help me make a perfectly looping video with no pause at the end please .

I'm not sure how you looped your video but I figured you already have it looped and your trying to make your final mpg so I wont cover looping here. During all of your process you should be working with uncompressed AVI's so you don't have any quality loss.

One thing I learned early on is not to try to do anything other than encoding with TMPGenc xpress 4.0. All of your tweaking of your clip should be done with an editing program... I use After Effects. Even though you can change framerate and use filters in TMPGenc xpress 4.0, they will cause problems such as a hesitation.

I cut my original clip into 2 sections and use them in After Effects to create my loop transition. One thing that is easily overlooked is your beginning and ending frame. Make sure they are not the same. If they are, move your beginning frame foward by one in TMPGenc xpress 4.0 before you create your final MPG. When cutting your original clip your start and end frame gets duplicated and you may have a duplicate frame which makes the clip appear to pause when it restarts.

Here's the setting I use in TMPGenc xpress 4.0 most of the time. I create dreams for my wide screen monitor which has a resolution of 1680x1050. TMPGenc xpress 4.0 will not do that exact resolution so I use 1792x1120, 1600X1000, and 1280x800 which are 16.10 multiples that TMPGenc xpress 4.0 will do. I use the closest resolution to my original and resize and crop my clip accordingly in After Effects. 

One thing, 1792x1120 gives the best results out of the three and it is what I use 99% of the time for that reason. Some will complain that it's not true HD because it's not 1080 but at the end of the day, I create these for what's best for my monitors. Remember, always skin for yourself first.

I try to use 25fps if possible since the lower frame rate uses a lot less CPU. One thing, a faster frame rate can make a hiccup or hesitation a lot less noticeable so you may want to go with 30fps if you have a tough clip or a lot of movement.

I was working on a new tutorial on how to create dreams with the free Windows movie maker from Microsoft when I had a hardware failure. It was lost but I am going to remake it again soon and will post it once it's completed.

ill tell yo uexactly what i do .

Lets say i have a video , with a bunch of nature shots in it . And lets say it is in mp4 , or mov format . I then take this video , load it in tmpgenc , remove the audio , then go to Cut-edit mode . There , i chop the only segment of the video i want , lets say a 30 seconds of a stream , or waterfall . The loop doesn't need any work , it should loop seamlessly .

So now i have my 30 sec clip of a stream , i then go straight to Format mode , i choose Mpeg2 , and i tried every settings possible , even trying Mpeg1 , or WMV .  the only thing that seems to differ from your settings , is that you choose ES (Video only) , instead of SYSTEM (Video only) , when i choose ES , it ends up being in a strange format not reckognised by dreamscene, so i choose System and it exports in mpg. 

now my video should play and loop , even if the loop is'nt perfectly seamless , it should play continuously , but instead , at the end of the video , there is a slight pause , you can barely see it , but still the last frame freezes there for a really short amount of time , it is really annoying .

Under these circumstances, it will not loop seamlessly. You must have a fade transition between the beginning and the end of the clip. If you compair the first and the last frame, you will see that there is a great deal of differance between the two and it will be noticeable.

I just created a tutorial to show you how to use Windows Movie Maker to create a seamless loop. Once you follow those directions to edit your clip, open the resulting file in TMPGenc xpress 4.0 and use it to encode your MPEG with the settings I supplied you in the above post.

alright , im going to split the video then add a fade , but if i still get the pause at the end ill just upload the video as it is so you understand .

i did know that technique the only thing is that damn windows movie maker does'nt let me export in high quality , i even tried to create a profile and it won't let me load it , i spent so many hours trying to figure out how to export and it never worked thats why i totally gave up .
