Improve Personal Sites

Improve Personal Sites

There's been a lot of discussion recently regarding improvements to the site, and I would like make some observations regarding the functionality of personal sites here at WinCustomize. I'm not sure if the problems I have experienced are universal, but here are some things I have noticed.

In the GALLERY ~ Editing Comments:
If you choose to edit a comment and submit it, the text does get updated, but it causes the smileys in all of the comments (not just the edited comment, but all of them) to go away and become just image tags. I'm not a website designer, but it would seem that the code could be adjusted to prevent this from happening. (Presuming, of course, that it's not just my computer and is a universal problem.)

In Personal Site SETTINGS – My Account/WinCustomize Theme/Sub Style:
I personally prefer Left Navigation Bar. (I find this layout to be more visually appealing and less distracting. Whoever coded it must have thought some people would prefer it, or the choice would not have been offered...?) When I select it from the drop-down menu and press the “Update” button, the layout does change to Left Navigation. Great...I'm a happy camper!

But here's the problem: I try to be security conscious, so I usually clear cookies and history after each browsing session. Once I do, I find that my navigation settings revert back to the default Right Navigation. Why would that be? The other settings don't seem to be affected by clearing cookies. This isn't a huge issue, I know, but I would like to see it changed.

And now for my biggest peeve:
In the “My Comments” section of the Profile Page:
The “Remove” link does not work -at all – ever! Why? Again, the coders thought it was a valid function, so why doesn't it work?!!! I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to be able to do some “housecleaning” so to speak. After all, it is supposed to be My Personal Site, and I should be afforded that option. Especially paying subscribers such as myself should be able to do that.

So...”That's my story – and I'm stickin' to it!”

These are my own personal observations and suggestions. Does anyone else agree?

I move that these improvements be made:
“All in favor ~ say Yay”
“All opposed ~ say Nay”

Let's “Git 'er Done!”

What I would like to see is people break up large blocks of text into paragraphs. It makes reading a lot easier

I couldn't agree more! I was shocked when I saw it appear all run together. I wrote the article in paragraph format to make sure it was easy to read. Then I copied and pasted it in an effort to assure it was formatted in paragraphs. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but it seems to me that the text all gets run together in the comments in galleries, too. Even when you hit the "enter" key...? I don't blame anyone for not wanting to read this condensed mess! I wouldn't and I'm the one who wrote it! So what did I do wrong?

Not life stopping for me either, Messiah1. I was just trying to give some constructive feedback.

BTW, I use Firefox. Could that have anything to do with the formatting issue?

I don't have the spacing problems in the forums.

But have run into it in the comments in the galleries.

I've seen several people comment about the text being run together. Quite frankly, I'm insulted by the comments about the paragraphs. The article was well-written and properly formatted for easy reading.

It looks like the OP wrote this post in HTML view . . so the page breaks looked like they were there but weren't rendered.
Simple mistake or maybe a serer hiccough . .

Fixed.

No need to beat anyone down anymore.

Thanks for the test, Snowman. I don't understand why this is a problem, but I do know I'm not the only one. Until I find an answer, I will refrain from posting any articles.

I understand, I wasn't implying that it was life stopping for you...I was just trying to soften my comment is all.

I understand. I know none of the issues I mentioned are major. And I'm sure I not the first to notice these. I do enjoy the site, and I try to offer positive support for it's members. I value your friendship. I was upset when I saw the block text and the comments that followed made matters worse. At least you read the condensed mess, and I appreciate that! (Personally, I wouldn't have made it past the first three words like mike b1954 said. )
