Iconpackager 4.0(x86)
Issues
Tuesday, March 18, 2008 by zakai1369 | Discussion: IconPackager
I was unable to find any other threads yet about the new release so I thought I would start one here.
Ive been sorting through it for about the last hour and here are a couple of problems I've run into.
1) Look & Feel>Iconpackage : When first starting up I can sort through all the iconpackages without a problem. I am however wondering if in this window the preview is supposed to be the default windows theme or the currently applied windowblind skin. In my case it is strictly showing the default XP skin.
2) Look&Feel> Colors : When going to this window it does not show a preview of any of the iconpackages I click on. Just a blank white window. I tried both ways of getting to this section also both by clicking on an iconpackage and then clicking Colors on the toolbar and by clicking on an iconpackage and then clicking Change Icon Package Color to the left of the window.
2b)Look&Feel> Colors : Since there is no preview here I tried clicking different options and then going back to Look & Feel>Iconpackage. When I do this some packages will not preview at all and others will. Also after clicking on a setting I tried going to Look&Feel>Preview and it shows all packages fine but only shows them in their original state.
3) Icons & Cursors: In this section it will only show me the Windows Default Icons. Every tab under this category shows the icons the way it should except for the Icons&Cursors>All Icons which doesnt show any icons at all. I tried clicking on different packages under Look&Feel>Iconpackage before going to this section but it still only shows the Windows Default Icons and I dont see a menu in this section to pick a different package.
4) Settings>Advanced Settings: The slider at the bottom of this section that is supposed to change the interface color has no effect when moved.
Just thought I'd put this all here to let Stardock know whats going on and to see if I am the only one having these problems and maybe need to reinstall.

You must be tesing Impulse as well!
First off I have to thank you for putting time into testing our products.
With that said we will take your feedback to heart and look into working your comments into the product. #1 might be kind of difficult however because IconPackager is not WindowBlinds so the preview will probably always be on Windows Luna/Aero.
Also, you happened to stumble on the ALPHA! (Read: It is not being released for ODNT BETA yet.) But IP4 is coming soon. So you may notice it has been removed from Impulse.
Thanks again for your input!

That makes sense. Would be nice though if it could somehow extract that information from Windowblinds and show the preview with your currently applied skin. But at least if you have a skin applied you can already see it on the rest of your screen to compare your color changes to.
Guess I should uninstall and go back to the last build eh.

Finders keepers.
Seriously, we will be releasing the ODNT BETA of IP4 very shortly.

Ok well I have messed around with it a bit more today and there are some things I didnt encounter last night. If these are things you are already aware of then sorry for wasting your time. But I figure I'll post them here just so you know.
Going through this more I did discover that some iconpackages will show up in the Look&Feel>Colors preview window while others wont. The ones that will show up then apply fine. The ones that don't show up, I tried clicking the "I want to adjust the color of my Icon Package" and then move the hue slider and apply the package and the result I get is

as a sidenote I dont know if this has anything at all to do with any Stardock apps but the only things I have installed in the last couple of days are Impulse, Objectmedia, Iconpackager 4 and a couple of other updates that showed up in Impulse.
When trying to make the screenshot for this post I tried to open mspaint and the only result was for the process to show up running in taskmanager but that was it. The application never actually opened.
Probably just a coincidence but a problem I've never had before.

It seems it isn't able to handle subsets. Hope IP 4 will again.

That and having half my icon packages show as empty or blank.
Something to take a peek at as it seems there's a few of us having the same issue.
IP4, MS

Ive gone through a bunch of different packages checking it out and the only things I have noticed not working properly so far are the following:
For some reason when I have the Color settings set to completely desaturate an Iconpackage (tried this on a dozen or so packages) I ran into one (OxidGlas) that would show in the preview as desaturated but once I applied it they were actually the normal colors.
Only other thing so far is that I applied a few packages without closing IconPackager and then closed it out and reopened it. Everytime I reopen it and apply a different package, that first package does not apply the .jpg icon properly, it shows the default windows icon. If I then change to a different package and apply it then go back to the same package I had first applied and reapply it all of the icons apply properly. I tried this about 4 times with different iconpackages each time.
