Quit whining

*cough

I like the wall. A lot. I'll actually use it. There are some skins and icons that wall will go great with. On that note..I want to see more of his work. I want to see it here. Phoenix, don't give up. This is a good community to display your talents. Personally, I think that wall is worth whining over a little. But that's me.

Why don't you upload it to DA

or skinbase.org...

I like the wall.

me too...and I've seen a helluva lot worse on here.

cut and paste of Spiderman

or Superman or Batman or any of hundreds of fan art cartoon characters. At least it's original...

Phoneix, if your inspiration comes from the adulation and praise of others, your approach is flawed and you would have been disappointed one way or another. This is because no matter how great you are at your art, you'll eventually create something people will think is not as great as you seem to think it is. Not every artwork you create will be front-page news, and that's a good thing.

Take a look at the examples of some of the top artists on WC. They're unassuming and modest about their work and will be glad with whatever response they get from the general WC audience and will take it as blessing.
My advice is find an alternative source of inspiration to fuel your motivation to create artwork. Do it for the love of the art itself... not for the praise and adulation of others.

This brings to mind a thread that's been popular lately: WWW Link.

Personally, I thought your wall was nice and shows your potential as an artist. It makes me look forward to seeing what you come up with next.
The only other piece of advice I'd offer is not to forget about widescreen resolution users.

personally, i think he was lucky it wasn't rejected completely since he pulled that little stunt of deleting the first submission of the wall and uploading it again because it had cycled off the first page of the wall library. there! i've said my 2 cents and i'll be leaving now.

That's not pushing anyone away at all. Most authors on WC also have other accounts elsewhere they can use to disseminate their work. I myself have my own gallery on dA, as well as some other sites. It's a great way to expose one's talents to a wider audience.

dA has an extremely large user base and while you're not likely to have *everyone* on there checking out your work, it's mere availability to that user base makes it a worththe time.
WC, on the other hand, has a great close-knit community feel you just won't find on dA that is great to be part of and make your "home-base".

A few people have pulled that stunt. Quite a few since I have been coming here. And some were members a lot longer than Phoenix's modest 1.5 months, with more uploads, who knew better. The gentleman's English isn't exactly perfect, so who knows how well he understands it, but in the thread he posted on the 8th announcing what he did and why..unless I am missing it..no one bothered to tell him why he shouldn't do it. It went from walls to objectdock to icons and how multiple versions should be uploaded.

Don't know what's going on. Maybe it's a full moon. Can we cut him some slack?

I come down on the side of 'not liking it'.

There's always a nagging dissatisfaction with things in 'landscapes' that are physically 'wrong', and in a wallpaper that is constantly stared at by people in moments of 'writers' block', etc. these 'errors' will detract to the point that the wall is sent to the recycle bin.

Two issues. You won't see 'stars' quite so low on a horizon, not when trees, etc imply an atmosphere, and shadow reflections [mirroring] on the water should bear some resemblance to the location of the objects being reflected.

Now if my criticism is because I studied Rendering and Sciagraphy in Architecture all those years ago [which requires the accurate [mathematical] generation of realism in perspective, etc., or because I'm an opinionated slob who maybe just hates blue, that's open to interpretation/debate...

It's superficially an OK wall.  It's neither too busy nor immediately distracting, however the 'errors' will likely guarantee it will not stay on a person's desktop for very long...

We're not in the habit of publicly discussing who disliked what and why with regards to wallpaper moderation and, yes, at times it can be odd and/or hypocritical or confusing, but by and large there is more than sufficient agreement for a submission's fate that it's not a one-man crusade....

About the stars really you think i dont know it? It was so conceived... About shadow reflections i put to much blur.... It was so conceived too. I wished to load my wall into a category Fantasy but have casually put in Abstract.

PhoeniXLegenda ....it's OK to want to openly discuss what is right and/or wrong with your own work/s but it is inappropriate to link to others' works thus drawing them into your debate....

Conception is only half of the process....the other being reception.

The moderators have indicated that this specific image was not particularly well received.  Perhaps your next conceptualizing will strike a more receptive note...

Create your site
Wincustomize: Personal Sites
Personal Page Elite

Follow this links and you could create your personal page here and then using the link given earlier for the Personal page elite you could show it to everyone here and get some feedback from the community anyway.

Your English is fine.

I wouldn't use that wall . . but someone might.  And so what if they do not?  You made it for you and then you shared with us.  The sharing is extra.

Do you have a question about the fist link in reply 33?  At a minimum, give it a title and you will have a site.

The recent poll said that everyone wanted tighter moderation. I personally thought that was a mistake. Here is the result. I think it was a decent wall, but that is just one more opinion.

I guess you mean no one will go on your personal page so you don't see any reason to create one and you asked why we would help to create one so...

Well, as i said in a reply before you are not alone many of us even masters when they was only citizen/apprentice or master apprentice had some of their walls put in their Personal Pages.

My only councils would be create your page then linked the wall in the Personal Page Elite Tread.

Then Keep skinning and create things you like, keep share them with us, Take a part in the community with skins, forums post, maybe some articles where you'll explain how to do things for the beginners.

Then wait and enjoy been here.

With time, some work and a good attitude you'll see

When i begun here i was a citizen with an english that Zubish could be pass for academic trust me or better look at my first posts here
With work on my english, on my skills i make a little place for me in this awesome community.
Now almost 1 1/2 year later my personal page (what you need to know) has been visited 329009 times so it make it 57th in the top.
SO you see people visite them.

The edit did not work so Ill add this:

The first stunt was a no no for sure, but merely suggests the need for education more than anything else. His first attempt at submitting deserves the benefit of the doubt it seems to me as it really only shows that he wants to share his work with the community. It takes a bit of time to learn to do that properly.
