Finish The Sentence.

The rules:
I'll start a sentence with a word (one word only) and the next poster will finish the sentence. Then, on a new line, that poster will start a new sentence with one word (one word only please). The finished sentence can be as long as it needs to be in order to complete the sentence, however, make sure it's only one sentence. Here we go.

Time was when fiddlin' and diddlin' was the rage back in the day when Rome got sacked and burned and then the world turned into a caricature of its former self with the comings and goings of all the ones who wanted it all but had to settle for leftovers after Caligula bamboozled it an Nero fiddled it and Hadrian built a wall around it but it didn't keep the hungry hordes at bay as they were in it for the short term rather than the long haul and isn't it ironic that after all was said and done its still nothing more than a town built on two hills and whatsisname is still after a few thousand years probably still buried under one of them and in all likely hood misidentified as the one who offed Remus or was it Romulus who offed him and took over the town that took over the world but got its upcomance when the hungry hordes decided to come and get it because they......
