Looks like it will be available as a 'public beta' not just to Microsoft testers, in the next few weeks.
Firefox 3 final is also due in the next few weeks.
This could be another interesting battle of the browser giants

From an IT support stand point, IE is one of the worst browsers out there. I can't tell you how many times a day I get a call and IE is doing something completely random and pretty much gumming up the works. Also, how long have people been using .pngs in there web content? Isn't it about time for IE to support transparent images? (or I am missing something out there that is easy to use that makes transparent images work in IE)

Isn't it about time for IE to support transparent images? (or I am missing something out there that is easy to use that makes transparent images work in IE)

I know some pretty hard-core web developers, and their major complaints about IE7 and what's been reported for IE8 is all the backwards-compatibility code so that old, hacked-up IE6 sites aren't broken. This is bad, because bad code *should* be broken, and these companies have had several years to fix their sites.
If you're coding properly, your website will display correctly in any modern browser. It might not look exactly the same, but that's the point of HTML being a markup language - the end user picks the fonts and text formats that work best for him or her, and your content should be adaptive to this.

Whilst I thought IE7 failed miserably in the 'looks' dept when it came out, it beat Firefox hands down when it came to the speed of loading pages. So Firefox and it's memory leaks went in the bin. I'm looking forward to this 'battle of the browsers' with an open mind and if Firefox have tidied up their act I might try it again

If IE8 uses the ribbon from Office 2007 (forum cross-references FTW!) then I won't use anything else except to double-check code.

I don't know I find speed to not really be and issue for me I use the latest version of firefox and it's load times are fine by me.

Lots of browsers out there that bring you to the same internet. Like most things when dealing with a computer, does it work for me and do I like it, even if there is another browser out that does the same thing.
Oh, I use IE 7 right now, works for me. I also us the browser in SDC for the same reason. I can hear all the comments all ready.
