PNG Images Corrupted in Widgets
Look fine in Photoshop and Corel Draw

Pngs I create with Photoshop or Corel Draw with transparent backgrounds are all corrupted on the the screen when loaded into a widget: black square with image all squished to one side.
These images look fine in all other applications.

I'm so new at this. Have had this less than a week.
Okay, I'm modifying the Fishy widget to try and learn how to make these widgets. So I tried replacing the image with one of my own.
I can't give you a screen shot. Not sure why. I'm running the Aquarium Desktop and neither Corel Capture nor SnagIt will capture anything.
Anyway, I'm using:
DesktopX Version 3.49f[rd].017
Windows XP Professional 2002 Service Pack 2
Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz
4GB DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz, Dual Channel DT
256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600GTS 2DVI
Is this enough info?

That's an animated widget. In object properties select the states tab. At the bottom select the animation tab. Change frames to 1.

I didn't remove the script because I want to play with the movement part, but good point so I just now created a widget from scratch and the first thing I did was upload a png with transparent background that I created and it is corrupted and distorted.
Next, I uploaded a png with no transparent background and it looked fine.
Is it the software I'm using to create the pngs? Corel Draw X3 and Photoshop 6?
What applications does everybody else use to create pngs with transparent backgrounds?

FIXED!
The problem was this:
To apply transparency to my image, I had to switch to Indexed Color and that made the distorted image.
I reloaded the image into Photoshop and switched it to RGB color and voila! Perfect transparency in a widget.
Gee, am I the only one who's ever had this problem?

Glad to hear.
Have never had that problem because I've never used indexed images only True Color. It makes sense though.
Was pretty sure it wasn't a DX issue.

I had no idea what the problem was but would never blame the software unless I was positive. I did think this forum was the place to go though since you all are experienced with DX and I figured someone might have already run into the problem.
This is some great application, isn't it? I mean, it was easy to understand from the get go and is so refreshing not to have to look at the same screen 24/7.
I stumbled on the DX site by going to Microsoft and looking for icon editing software and almost bought Icon Packager but noticed the ad on the sidebar about DesktopX and clicked on it. What luck!
Now all I have to do is learn VBScript. I use a lot of Visual Basic 6 in my work, what pertains to my needs, but now there is something new to learn. Woo hoo!

Yeah, it is the easiest Widget Engine out of the box.
Came it at with basic VBA experience. You should have no problem picking up vbscript. Not to mention being able to use activeX is nice feature.
