Snidely Whiplash: Thanks for reporting that.  We have fixed that internally so the next build should have the fix in it.

Neil, any chance you could give us a "Step by Step" on creating a new preset color without changing "ALL" the colors. There are several of us who have tried to follow Brad's original "How To" who just cannot make it work........

I will put that on my to-do articles list.

All works fine except for the first run (Aero > Dallas Maverick):

These latest builds (WindowBlinds 6.1 (build 83 x86 - Vista Edition) + WindowBlinds 6.1 (build 84 x86 - Vista Edition)) are really problematic.

1. Open WindowBlinds config panel
2. Apply default Windows Vista theme > Aero (WindowBlinds will close automatically)
3. Open SDC and update WindowBlinds (6.02 > 6.1 or 6.1b83 > 6.1b84)
4. Reboot
5. Try to apply any skin (example Aero > Buzzz or Aero > Dallas Mavericks)
6. Doesn't work (default classic theme)

Event viewer > The Desktop Window Manager was unable to start because a composited theme is not in use + The Desktop Window Manager has exited with code (0x40010004)

Log off, log on and the problem is gone. [Tested with 2 Vista installations, same problem]

So you only have the problem on the very first apply after updating?

Theres another problem in the newest beta build with x64 (still has address bar problems..... )
Also:

All property dialog boxes are like that, only the frame/close.min.max are skinned with the themes elements.

Hola Mr. Neil,

Outlook 2003 calendar appointment dropdown arrows for location, label, start time, end time, reminder and show time as, get hosed. Worst arrows are the start/end time ones. I tried to capture a couple of screenshots but they didn't show the anomalies.

How to reproduce:
Using Diamond, or Harmony, click on an appointment (or create a new one) in your OL2003 calendar.
The arrows for the start time and end time dropdowns look like their doubled or something.
Run your cursor over them and they retain a blue color (Diamond), even when mouse off. The drop down arrow almost looks normal after the mouse over.

Can anybody with MS Outlook 2003 Calendar confirm this? I can reproduce it with many skins. Elegance is not as bad as Diamond.

With explorer background transparency on, the recycle bin is black if there isnt anything in it.

This update doesn't do anything on my machine. The new feature (Explorer Backgrounds) tab shows up, but when I apply any of the textures it just crashes Explorer.exe and closes my WindowBlinds window. No changes to my Explorer windows. I am on Vista Ultimate SP1.

RottGutt: Do you have any additional information on the crash such as a crash address?  It sounds like something that has loaded into explorer has conflicted with WindowBlinds.

It's quite wierd, that isnt skinned for me, and also the address bar gets larger if the titlebar height for the bmp frame is above 23 pixels, yet I talked to a guy on dA that didnt have this issue. What could be causing this?!
Perhaps I need to install WB through and executable rather than SDC? I really don't get this..WB hates something in my PC and it's really ruining it for me.

Astyanax mine are skinned also. Vista Ultimate 32 bit

I had a problem changing skins I went from Sirus to Tanipal. It looked like it going to change and it went back to Sirus. I restarted my CPU and Tanipal was skinned. Now I notice when I change skins it takes a long time. Compared to the last update that took half as long.

Two things I have noticed since the last WB update applied last night are that the skins take only about half the time for WB to apply them, and the flaky excuses for Vista drivers ATI has been handing out haven't crashed since then. (However, on the second count, I'm sure it will only take a bit of time for ATI's flakeware to crash again...).

However, a few screwy things -- I can change the Windows Explorer backgrounds -- but they only stay changed when the windows are made smaller with the "Restore" (i.e., the middle window button between Minimize and Close). Maximize Explorer window backgrounds will not retain the skin (though if I hit the middle button again, the background comes right back again).

If I have the WindowBlinds configuration applet open, the Windows Taskbar will pop up and down about every 5 seconds, and also pop up when the applet closes for a second or two.

I had the WB option "If a Skin has a replacement user icon..." unchecked, but the updated checked it for me, and I can't uncheck it.

I'm using 64 bit, you both as well? (PurrBall & ALMonty) I should mention that it's skinned in Vista x86, so it may be a x64 issue.

Astyanax some of your dates (the last 3) are different then mine. I don't know if it's because you are useing a 64bit version or not. Or if it matters.
