Skinners, Artists, Coders, and Testers Needed: Community Suite

Happy Birthday!!

After the success on the Troll Thumping Day Suite some members of the Mother Thumpers are coming together to create the "Happy Birthday Suit(e)".

I envision this suite centered around a DX gadget that counts down to your birthday. On your birthday the gadget will prompt you to download the most recent incarnation of the suite components so for your special day, your desktop will celebrate with you.

At this point we have some components assigned to artists but this is a collaborative project and welcome input and assistance from everyone. Please jump in and help out if you'd like.

Anything to do with graphics is a challenge but I like to try and join in.

I look at some of the BootSkins and you just think how the hell did they do that. it looks like a lot more than 16 colours but you know it cant have more so just sheer skill of whoever it was made it.

The only thing left in dxgame is sound effects. I will submit it, tonight with or without sounds.

Testing results (you may be aware of all these or they may be in teh last 2%) [Vista testing]:
  • The inactive window trans may be  too high.  With stacked windows it gets very hard for me to get teh right one.
  • The upper right window frame is very white.  Seems a bit harsh for me
  • Some small shadow along the top and left might be useful
  • No "Please wait"
  • Start button is blank
  • Start panel is just borked. 
  • User image is too low and left
Screenshots are available if requested.  Will test on XP later.

Please, everyone, test and provide feedback!

Downloaded your tester twice now as double check

First go crashed explorer had to reboot.

unzip it and apply not showing up in WB

Watching it as it loads into WB Windows XP Style gets highlighted no sign of HappyBirthday Blind

Thats on XP

Dude!  Wow!
  • Please wait is in place
  • Startmenu is wonderful (love the animated Winky)
  • Start button is there
  • 2nd and 3rd bullet still stand, but that's just one man's opinion.
  • Taskbar is wonderful

there is also a white semi transparent border ....... which here u cant see coz background is also white ....
