Sysmetrix

Sunday, January 27, 2008 by WOM | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I was wondering how and if Sysmetrix handles duel and quad core CPU's. I've yet to read anything about that in the authors comments or anywhere else.

Currently it doesn't. I have little faith that it will ever be updated again.

I've been using Samurize more often because it does that and a lot more (for instance embedded radar images). It seems to be fairly stable. It does things like autohide and allows you to pin it to the desktop. One drawback is it's a bit less USER friendly than Sysmetrix as far as taking someone else's skin and appying it to your machine.

I've tried Rainmeter and I find it a bit unstable and much harder to skin.

I've attached an example of a Samurize skin I made. Notice there are no graphics involved. I made it to go with any skin I happen to be using. You could probably put one together fairly easily.

Am using an old yahoo widget as its user friendly, doesn't skin but is not that obtrusive, handles all the ram but its so old that it only does 1 CPU.

Try this one http://widgets.yahoo.com/widgets/neon-gauges-system-info
It's a "show as much or little as you want" widget, and you can resize, reposition & recolor all the meters.

Reading the comments kind of makes me leary.  Think I'll pass but thanks.

How does one apply a Sysmetrix download that has multiple themes? Sysmetrix won't accept it in the normal install.

The suffix can be renamed to 'zip' and the files extracted if there's more than one skin enclosed...

It runs in 7 64bit ...but doesn't display/handle the possible increase in ram available...

On second thought... bet it made for some interesting photos.

Has anyone actually sent Nick (Xymantix) an E-Mail asking him if he still is able/wants to do updates ? He used to be really nice and responsive in my active days in Sysmetrix skinning. Would be great to get it to work again.

Carl...that's something I've been meaning to do.

Nick's a nice guy....hopefully I can entice him to get Sysmetrix functioning fully in Win7 [and 64bit].

I still use the proggy all the same...
