Ah, what the heck, it's always nice to stir the pot once in awhile. Sometimes this place gets alittle slow and tired, if you know what I mean. A little excitement is good for everyone.

They expected to get some revolutionary ideas into Longhorn and release it October 2003. Around that time they ended up giving out an extremely buggy and unstable alpha build with very few features.
I have a feeling this won't be any better.

I don't get why you guys take interest in Windows Seven. You are all going to hate it even more. Windows Seven will be 64 bit only, Server 2008 due to be released Fed 27th is the last and final 32 bit operating system MS will release. Granted it will still run 32 bit apps (with more CPU usage & 50% more memory for the 32bit apps). Plus it will more than likely require even more hardware than Vista, as all major OS releases do.
I garentee that the release date will be pushed back and it wont be seen until 2010, maybe even 2011. You guys all know how MS is, to expect it to actually be on the time they claim at first is terribly stupid.

The article does seem to say something different. Now the article is by c/net News.com, is it any better than others, no. Right now anything that you would search for and read is based upon speculation, or if you want, a guess as to what Microsoft may or may not release and even when then will release. I have never like timelines, why, they will always be change to slip the date out because of uncontrollable factors.

Actually its "The Last 32 bit operating system"... but ok...
With processors currently available with quad cores at affordable prices, 32 bit is becoming pointless. The 32 bit kernal is designed to only properly work with up to 2 phyical cores. Yes you can use a quad core in 32bit, but the performance increase is so minimal its not worth it (if your lucky around 15% increase in overall performance with the 3rd core, 5% if lucky with the 4th). And in a few years its highly likely to start seeing 5, even 6 cored processors.
Don't expect Windows Seven to be less hardware intesive, I really wouldn't get your hopes up about this being better than vista. It will surely need even more processing power than Vista requires, 64bit only or not.

I myself would love Windows to go fully 64-bit to pressure the developers to make everything work, also some of the old 16-bit cruft is out too.
However my system here is not 64-bit capable, and it is a very capable machine, in Vista, and plays games very well (BF2 runs fine on full settings with AA on)
