Dreamscapes 2.0 beta issues

Wednesday, January 16, 2008 by Chewy_Solo | Discussion: DeskScapes

i was so exited for todays release! unfortunately half the dreams i tried using would crash explorer.exe (ex: LUXE, UFO) so i couldnt use them. and unfortunately it doesnt support multi monitors (old news i know) as in options to turn some off and such, so using the basic earth dream on lowest settings i was getting around 25% cpu usage... i have a q6600 Core 2 Quad and 3 monitors (1 1680x1050 on a 8800 GTS 640MB and 2 1600x1200 and a 1280x1024 on a 7600 GS) i am aware of the PCI slowness but i still think you guys (stardock) should allow support for multimontors as in allowing it to be turned off on some monitors and another wall to be put in its place, working as almost ultramon

well thanks

50% is a far too high usage rate. There must be something else going on. I know ultramon has had some large issues with Stardock software in the past it sounds like it is doing the same again. Please start a ticket with us so we can better test this out for you.

Deskscapes requires multiple heads to be on the same adapter which is why you have such high cpu usage.

We are looking at if we can ignore additional monitors.

awesome i was thinking maybe you guys could team up with a program that already supports mutliple backgrounds? I was thinking of Display Fusion, its a great program, thats simple and free. I will contact them and maybe tell them to come over here.

As of this point, only the WMV's, not the MPEG-2's, which happens to be the overwhelming majority of the best dreams.

The best content, in my opinion, are the dynamic dreams.  They should play fine.

I don't know if it will work on 64bit. However it currently does so I don't see why it wouldn't. However this is only a logical guess at the moment.

Chewy - What OS are you running on?  If not Vista Ultimate, what video codec are you using?
