Cursor FX Plus

Tuesday, January 15, 2008 by Duke261 | Discussion: Stardock Support General

I know from the forum at WC the problem I'm inquiring about is no news to you but I figured I'd better start a ticket as I"m lost as to what to do & I have installed & uninstalled a Million times. My problems is when I change a cursor theme I can change settings but they do not take effect until I restart Windows. Also I am having trouble with my cursor going behind menus & task bar. I was hoping that when final version was released the problem would be fixed. I beleive the beta version ended today but my problem continues. I did uninstall my old version & reinstalled from my Stardock link of my apps that I purchased. Unless that link is the old beta version. Anyways what can I do to correct this problem? Thank you.

Duke, do you have Stardock Central? If so, you can download the newest beta from there. It fixes the Z-order problem (cursors going under windows, menues, etc.) Unfortunately, the apply button doesn't work under "settings". However, if you change your settings, hit apply, and then go to "trails" and hit apply, it will change the settings too. Quirky.....

Yea, I do have Stardock Central. I go to Misc & I see Cursor FX Plus...I do install...progrsm downloads...then I get a message that download failed. I've gone thru that process 3 or 4 times but to no avail. So that's why I uninstall and go through the Stardock Purchase link I received.

Try this.

In SDC click on: Tools/Settings/Internet. Click refresh XML data.

Then try downloading.

I don't know if it will help,but it's worth a shot.

I don't think that latest beta of Cursor FX plus fixes problem of cursors going under windows. At least it doesn't for me. That still happens from time to time, as well as on my laptop with XP as on desktop pc with vista....

Strange I didn't see an update for CursorFX, but one for WB.

That's what I see ALMonty, got an update for SDC, and WindowBlinds, but nothing yet for CursorFX or Plus.

If it's not showing that Beta release in SDC try refreshing XML data under Tools/Settings/Internet....

(you probably already knew that, but figured I'd cover it anyway)

newbie question. Just got CXP and also got CFX as a bonus. Which to use? Both? I installed CXP but if I want to use CFX do I need to un-install CXP? Is CFX an upgraded version? Also, I bought it as a stand alone after I bought Object Desktop. CXP isn't listed in SDC. Can I add it there somehow?
Have also had some problems with the cursor starting to move irratically around the screen. This usually happens after I've started CXP and it's run for about an hour. Wierd or what???????? Thanks for any info.

You can use one or the other, but not both.

No, you don't need to uninstall CXP to use CFX (or at least I didn't). I just installed CFX and it started working. I think it disables CXP.

CFX is not an upgrade to CXP, it's a different program.

CXP is listed under the "Misc." tab in SDC. If it's not there, try this: click on Tools/Settings/Internet. Then click Refresh XML Data. That should make it show.

As for the cursor moving erratically, I don't know what to tell you about that.

I don't see it in mine either. It just has CursorXP listed.
