720 frames????

Tuesday, January 15, 2008 by killajosh | Discussion: Skinning

Okay, so I'm trying to make a new skin for Xion, and want to make it an animated (spinning) ball. Here's my question. The only way to make it look smooth in it's rotation is to duplicate each layer and rotate that new layer .5 degrees. That makes a total of 720 frames.....just for the animation.....

Is there an easier way of doing it? I'm using PS CS3, and am new to it (I've only owned it for 12 days...). Any pointers would be greatly appreciated, cuz if 720 frames is the only way to do it, I'm scrapping the sphere.......

Does it really have to be that many frames? Does it have a repeating pattern on it or a pattern that is different on all sides (like the earth for example)? If the pattern repeats, you might be able to get away with a lot fewer frames...

This is a necrothread, but I was looking for insight on Xion anims.

Sorry for reviving an old thread, I should have started my own, I guess.
