Changing .MOD files to something more useful

Help please...

Sunday, January 6, 2008 by RPGFX | Discussion: Video Editing

OK, I bought my wife a JVC Everio Hard Drive camcorder for Christmas. As a teacher trying to become nationally certified, she needs to record one of her classes, and choose 15 minutes of it to submit. The camera makes video as .MOD files, which can't be edited in Windows Movie Maker, and the software that came with the camera is useless. Can anyone help me. How can I successfully make these files useful. I need to be able to cut it to 15 minutes, then put it on a DVD.

Well, I did that. It seemed to work, but it isn't actually changing them. They will play on most things, but still won't open in Windows Movie Maker to edit it. And other .mpg files will. So I don't think it's actually converting. I need to be able to edit the video. Thanks for the link... anyone else have any ideas?
