So did anyone get any cool tech gifts this year?

Wednesday, December 26, 2007 by Stupendous Man | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Standard fair (fare?) at our house this year. My son wanted a Wii, but I [i][b]refused[\b][\i] to pay more than retail for the thing, even though I want it just as much as he does. $600 or more for one?!? Come on!!! I'll just wait for my tax refund and get it for him in February or March. So anyway, what about you? Did you get that cool tech item that you wanted? Just wondering. Have a good one!

Thanks Philly. I really would like to see WB and Dreams in action on that TV. Haven't tried connecting the PC to it yet. I am waiting for the entertainment center to be setup this weekend so that I can bring the PC and may be servers to the living room. I also need to install Vista Ultimate to get the Dreams going. That may take more time. Have an old laptop with a max resolution of 1280x1024 in that cabinet but hasn't not switched on in a long time.

A friend of mine bought an N95 from Amazon a while ago. He wasn't happy. He let me use it for week. I liked the 5MP camera and the music player but the rest of the stuff including wireless networking and browsing had serious issues. He returned it and settled for iPhone.

I got a used 300GB Maxtor external HD.Which stopped being recognized by XP as soon as I had transferred my entire music collection to it.
After doing some googling, turns out I'm just one of thousands with the exact same problem.Damn you Maxtor!

Adventurous pc repairman that I am,I tore it apart and removed the drive from it housing.Split the connector so I could hook half to the MB and the other too the power supply of its original case...hang the whole thing sloppily out the side and voila!...there were my songs!Plus its a serial ata.Now there are 4 HD's in my cheesy Emachines PC(well, mostly in   )

Or may the version sold on the stateside has limitations as usual. It wasn't the carrier because we were trying to connect to Wifi at home and then at work. It got confused. Have you tried deleting an existing WiFi setup?

It was in May. I had very high hopes for this phone. I blogged about my experience, but did not write down everything. My bad. WWW Link

I got a 1/43rd scale Triumph Spitfire Mk111 which is kinda sad, cos I just gave away [to a mate] my old Triumph Spitfire Mk11 with the Mk111 engine ....[a full size one] ....last registered in 1982.  [looks like I hadn't been using it all that frequently]...

Got a bottle of Elijah Craig Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey and I bought myself the Sirus skin. HO HO HO!

Being in Kentucky and knowing what that is...time to party with you!!!

As for me - nothing techie but I got the coolest star generator that projects on the ceiling - not the cheap one either - and it is complete with shooting stars! Very cool!

I knew I married this woman for a reason...goes well with my fascination of space.

I got my hands on a nice iPod Touch.  Amazing little gadget, I'm already absolutely hooked on it.  Great for watching videos and surfing the web.

Well, I didn't get all the really neat high-tech goodies that you guys got, but Santa did manage to drop me off a new speaker system for my home recording studio.

The man kept grumbling about he's @#*$ tired, these are too @#%!* heavy to shove down a chimney and that his @$#%&* reindeers were thirsty!

Is Santa allowed to use that kind of language?

Well if he's been getting away with "ho, ho, ho" for years, I can't see why not.

I wouldn't trust Santa. Anyone who says "Ho ho ho little boys, have I got a suprise for you" is a bit dubious.

Anyway, Santa is just a fat bastard in a red suit... Its doubtful he could get down any chimney...

Yay!! My new monitor finally arrived, 20" HP Widescreen in glossy piano black running at 1680x1050..... mmmmmmmm sweet. This is the first post using it.
Everything looks really different from the fuzzy old CRT monitor, so crisp and sharp.

I'd be really happy if my tooth (or, hole where it used to be) didn't hurt so much. Apparently it's still infected and I have to go back tonight to get it sorted out...... Oh Joy!!

The wife and I bought a 42" Plasma for ourselves.  Other than that, the rest of Christmas was devoted to the kids and family.

I did get some giftcards though, might buy some software I have been looking at.
