restoring your desktop settings

my text has a blue reverse box behind it and i can't get rid of it

Sunday, December 16, 2007 by javajones | Discussion: Windows XP

i have a problem with my desktop text for shortcuts etc.
instead of just being white text with a shadow under it, there's
a blue box around the type. how do i change this back to default?

i tried changing the the theme back and forth between windows xp theme,
classic theme and my current theme and it's the same on any of them.
i know this is probably really basic stuff, but i figured someone
here could help me out!

thanks!

Open System Properties in Control Panel, choose the Advanced tab, and click Settings in the Performance section. Turn on the Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop option, and click Ok.

See if that helps.
