Rateing Skins

Monday, December 3, 2007 by Duke261 | Discussion: New Users

My question has to do with reviewing new skins in the galleries. Please help me understand the process. When a new skin is uploaded and posted in the gallery it appears with a star rating. For ex...a new Wall will get 3 stars after accepted and posted. Who designates the 3 star rating and what criteria is used to determine the 3 star rating for ex...creativity, color coordination, originality, design... Once it is posted and a subscriber looks it over and gives it a rating does that have any effect on the original 3 star rating or does it figure into the artists statistical average in some way. I assume that a subscribers rating is weighted according to their honorific title...i.e.-a citizens rating counts less then a Journeyman...is that correct?

I also notice that sometimes a referral is given. Could someone please tell me what that means. Sorry if these question are redundant and elementary but I can't find this info anywhere and I really want to be an active part of WC and the skinning community. If it is in existance somewhere please refer me. Thank you
Duke

The moderators will give the initial rating. Then subscribers and current customers will use the stars to rate. Some ratings carry a bit more weight than others due to the status of the person rating. IE a Master's rating carries more weight than a citizen's.

The referrals are links from "other" websites to the item.

If it is in existance somewhere please refer me.

they are, and when I find them I'll post another reply

So will the ratings by subscribers and customers ever change the inital rating given by the moderators? Also...who gives the referral? Please indulge these questions but I want to be a responsible member of WC and there is so much here! Thank you.

Yes

The sytem does. Most sites track where a session comes from, WC just displays them. So if you have a web page and you have a link to a skin at WC, and someone goes from your page to that skin . . it's a referral.

Thank you so much Lantec & Zubaz for helping me get a better unserstanding of the rating process and WC as a whole. I've only been a member for a few months and there is just so much going on here that I'm wanting to understand and participate in. I'm glad I found WC!!!
