So, what did you click on to get here?

Saturday, December 1, 2007 by Philly0381 | Discussion: Internet

As most of us have realized and figured out there are several ways of getting to your favorite destination.

Many out there use their Web Browser of choice, whether it be IE, FF, Opera or one of several others that are available. Lately I've seen people tout the virtues of SeaMonkey. Then there are those that use SDC and just click Web Browser on the left hand side and even some that click WinCustomize and use its browser. Needless to say we all get to our final destination.

Now the WC Browser was pointed out as one of the benefits when you subscriber to WC, you wouldn't see any ads. Funny, the SDC Brower provides the same feature.

When I first started coming here I was using IE, then when I got a WC subscription I switched to it's browser. For me the key was the ease of downloading that won me over. A few clicks, the skin was downloaded and installed. Well dummy me just found out again that that feature is available in using SDC. Hmmm. I do believe we have some duplication going on here. For the last couple of days I have been getting here using SDC.

They all work but for me the ease of downloading and getting the skin installed quickly is what it's all about.

So, just how do you get hear? Why did you choose that path? Have you tried all the paths?

Then a question for WC/Stardock, which is the recommended, best way or how you thought people would get here.

FF or IE7 for WC. I download the skin files and most other intact to my network share instead of directly opening it because I format and install Windows often. This year was an exception. Saving files to the disk that can be used later saves time and bandwidth for me and may be for the websites as well. I wish SDC, theme manager etc had the option of downloading the theme or suite file to location (I have different folders for different types of files) where I specify and then expand it.

I've always liked FireFox. I just like how it has a pretty basic look to it and it looks quite nice with Harmony as my Vista theme. vStyler

Just out of curosity why do you use something else WOM? I only ask from the position of am I missing something. That really was the purpose of the post, for me to try and get a little better informed. Most of the web browser are coming out with updates and I wanted to be able to make an intelligent decision whether to change or stick with what I was using.

So that's why I still haven't found what I'm looking for... I bin over at the Sesame Street site looking for pron. Damn that Big Bird... for saying that my fav show was brought to me by the letters p,r,o & n.

BTW, Philly, I here SeaMonkey goes OK, but I usually get hear via Firefox.

I prefer IE7 but there are a lot of good browsers out there which are worth trying. The only one that I have not tried but have heard is a bit problematic is Safari

I just gravitate to Opera, but I can't upload my wallpapers to WC with it... so I revert to FireFox for that.

I use the WC Browser for the easy search/install feature and SDC for updating the software. Each app has its strengths.

I only use IE6(32-bit)for MS Live Update and other sites that require it.

Because of my multiple personalities  I'm all over the place. I use FF,SDC,WC and IE depending on what I'm doing at the moment or I just click an Icon on my OD.

I appreciate all the replies folks.

Was looking for a few more "why" responses to see if there were reasons for your choices. I'm sure as with most things that we do, if it works than no other reason is needed.

IE7 wont allow me to log in my account here...

FF works well, is tabbed, tons of plugins for Itunes, weather, IRC, etc..and I can log in to WC..

Wc Browser as well as SDC are too big and bulky for my daily use...

Why do I use IE7 and not the other browsers? I think everybodies experiences are different and that governs their choice. Personally, I chose IE7 after trying several other browsers because it was the most responsive and stable. The look of IE7 is poor though. Microsoft really need to get their act together when it comes to the 'look' of their programs and if they don't have the suitable expertize 'on site' then they should have turned to some of our guys and given them a nice little juicy contact to come up with something more pleasing to the eye. This is where Firefox beats IE7. It's better looking although it still could have improvements. I loved the look of Firefox but I found it slower and the memory useage spikes began to piss me off. I hope they are going to finally fix this in 3.0 and then I will seriously look at Firefox again. Security is another area that I considered seriously. Some people say that Firefox is more secure and point to all the IE security issues but if they look carefully Firefox has had it's own share of issues too. Just my two cents worth
