editing a skin after uploading

hi..............
I uploaded my new wb Ascension last night, and this morning everyone loved it........and thats great! but I had a few glitches to fix after some people suggested a few things, so i fixed them. but my problem was, I could not edit the skin, because the current upload system and my pc dont like each other.....i always get that upload error.
so i had to delete the skin and upload from the old site..........i lost all my comments and over a thousand downloads......... 
comments are priceless to me.........
is there anyway in future that i can edit my skin without losing things like that?
that would be cool!!
