Let The Shopping Begin!

Thursday, November 22, 2007 by Philly0381 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Not sure how it is in other places but in the good old USA tomorrow is known as Black Friday. It has become the traditional start of the Holiday Gift buying season. In recent years it has been known for greatly reduced prices on lots of stuff especially electronics, but as you might guess in small or limited quantities.

So are you going to get up early and go fight the crowds? What's high on your list of items, new widescreen LCD monitor, a new computer, new digital camera or maybe one of the new robotic toys to drive your dogs and cats crazy?

About a week ago, I completed my shopping and burned a big hole in my wallet. I am going to hide and watch some movies tomorrow.

I did it one time in my life...never...never...never again! But at least I can mark that item off the list of the things I did before I died.

Been Friday here for 9.28 hours already....we get a head-start....

Didn't hit the hay till 2am and up again at 8 ..... Last thing I'd want to do would be fight crowds for a dubious saving on stuff I probably don't really need....

Still haven't hit the hay and have no intention what-so-ever of going shopping for anything I do or do not need....bugger the shops, tis nought but a commercial racket these days, anyhow.

All our X-mas shopping was done by the missus weeks ago, and there will be NO more....

no (none at all) decorations: no more gifts and no more Chrissie spending of any type.

With absolutely NO kiddies coming here at all, there is no point to extravagant X-mas spending....this year it all happens at my niece's place, the gifts for kids only are already bought, and we'll be taking a sufficient contribution of food which is already in the freezer awaiting the day.

It has become a family tradition in recent years that we only buy holiday gifts for the kids, because we adults know better and see no value any more in exchanging gifts, and get much more out of the family togetherness and sharing a banquet X-mas feast fit for royalty. scrooge starkers has spoken....bah humbug!

I'm a man. I don't shop on CRAZY WOMEN Shopping Day, (read as Black Friday). No way, no how.

I love shopping. For the last 2 years I had not gone for Black Friday shopping because of the arrival of our son. This is year I am not going (I think) because I already spent too much in the last one month, shopping.

You know what bugs me about the shopping? People snag up doorbusters they get from stores, and jack up the prices on EBay. I also see people doing this on a site called CraigsList. However on CraigsList this practice of price gouging is not tolerated by the community of users and the ads get flagged down in a hurry.

As far as gifts go, if you belong to a bank, ask them about VISA Gift Cards. They can be used anywhere VISA is accepted and they are a lot better then store department gift cards. Cash really sucks to carry around these days, especially since the reports of mall patrons getting ripped off in malls start to pour into news media channels. I just buy a VISA Gift Card for each member in the family and its done. Keep in mind that Minors cannot use these cards however.
