How stupid can an ISP be...

My ISP has decided to move everyone's e-mail over to a new system. So now you have to change settings in your e-mail program for the new mail config - that's easy enough, so what's the catch?

Well, you have to go to the webpage to enable pop... Yup, the website is locked solid because everyone is doing the same   Also, it seems, your password isn't synchronized so you have to change that too.

So far, it's take 30mins to get to the site, 30 mins to change my password, and for the last 30mins it's been sitting on the tools page... I give up.

So it looks like I'm stuck without e-mail until the website wakes up. Why they couldn't set pop by default or keep the same password who knows. Probably a decision by some managerial twit who has no idea how things work

The limit has never been met . . nor do I suspect it ever will be.
So it looks like I'm stuck without e-mail until the website wakes up.
I will post all my v1@gRa mail here in this thread so you will not feel at a loss

Thanks fuzzy, you just reminded me of something to check before I do my Exchange 2007 migration this weekend : find a way to script the new exchange machine name to all of the clients, or put a printed memo on everyone's desk to walk them through the new settings. either way looks like monday is going to be a LONG day.

Let me count the ways....no wait....I don't have that long. Here's a good one...the website I've been using now for the past 5 years has decided to use a orange leafed background on the pages you use to create your website and everything else on it. Now I can't see squat!

OK, I have four of my e-mail accounts done, except my main WC e-mail (figures). One of the settings isn't right, so instead of pulling down the one e-mail I haven't accessed yet, it's pulling down all 359, of which 358 are archived...

All I'm getting at the moment is 'page not available'. Sigh...

I've just spent another hour of head banging and ranting. I finally got all my accounts sorted only to find I could receive but not send. A quick browse of Microsoft's tech help revealed a known issue with Outlook 2002 and certain types of server authentication. This was resolved in SP3, which I thought I had... Anyway, SP3 is now installed and all is well.

Pity the poor sods who don't have my extensive IT training...

The website is still frelled, but I don't care anymore ***raspberry***

Do what I do....just use gmail. I had to change ISP's about 3 times and got sick of changing/updating my email address with sites I'm regged at and what-not, so I went with gmail. I can sync it into Outlook, can access it from anywhere, and don't have to worry about updating everything when I move/change ISP's.....win.
