Has anyone seen this?
Isn't this a rip?!

I think this is going to take more than just members from this community leaving comments on his page and leaving notes for mods over there. It would appear the only way this is going to be cleared up is for a Stardock Rep to make an offical compliant to DA with action identified to be taken if this is not corrected. Wouldn't want to be on their side of the fence if that happens.
Just me two cents worth.
EDIT: Just verified, page is still up.

(From his comments section, it doesn't look like the DAers take too kindly to the spamming of his page.

We tried the approved channels and that was ignored.
We tried unorthodox and uncivilized methods and that is not working. Hey, if they choose to ignore their policy what else are people left with?
Boxxi, I'm sorry this is still ongoing.. I did my best and was shot down at every turn.
mrs starkers - I would think you have the right to sue for libel.
I think that it is time that the members of WC take a stand and vote with our wallets here. It would also be in good form for Stardock to stand behind us.
They haven't banned me yet, but I replied to the helpdesk and asked that my account be removed (and told them to enjoy the last cent that they would ever get from me).
BOYCOTT DA!

Spamming pages or being abusive is doing more harm than good. Please stop now, you are doing more harm to this site than you are to DA or MRKacau.
If you are going to leave messages be polite, respectful and professional. Anything less paints you and us in a bad light.
MRKacau is acting disgracefully, don't sink to his level. He will be dealt with... I won't stop until he is.

I'm sorry, but the shit he did to mrs starkers was completely off base and was the proverbial straw for me.
Why is it such a big thing anymore when someone actually stands up for their rights, and the rights of those they care about. All anyone is concerned with is " Oh.. somebody might get offended ".
I don't see what I've done as being abusive. I've stated facts and truth.
A) FACT - there are assholes, idiots and imbeciles involved in the guise of DA administration. If I've referred to them in public by their true nature then so be it.
It's nice to see that you made a choice to not support them as well. You cannot however, expect everyone to be as quiet about it. Sure, the DA members are going to do the same to us that we do to like people here. I expected that. However, these outbursts and posts may have an effect somewhere. You can bet that someone is silently reading them and saying.. hmmm... valid points...

It is in everyone's best interest for the customization sites to work together or at least get along. Mob mentality won't accomplish that.
Polite dialog can be an investment in fixing the problem going forward. Contacts can be made and called on later . . unless the perceptoin is that it's not wprth their time.

They have already made that impression.
Would you still be of the same opinion if they had not removed the Stardock Design reference under his name, and removed the Stardock Design skin?

The facts are that the guy is a twit and a thief. I believe that polite dialog now would have gotten the same results as have been achieved at the least. It also would have the added benefit of giving the perception that the WC folks that are at dA are responsible, respectful, helpful folks.
The same people that are upset and and pulling their memberships could still do so. If hitting dA in the wallet is the goal, it would still be accomplished. If the forum posters wanted to be vocal and raise awareness of the problem, that could also be done politely and would likely be MORE effective than repeated spamming in a forum that has nothing to do with the problem (and was polite enough to say so early in the dialog).
The questions really are, "What is the goal?" and "What is the best way to accomplish those goals?"
What I think the goals should be (should have been):
- Have the content removed content from dA
- Have the user banned
- Identify the process for reporting rips
- Identify the time frame that a rip is acted on
- Improve the process or reporting and acting on rips
- Create a network where a WC admin might discourse with a dA admin (as an advocate for a WC member) to expedite a rip report.
They may not have been yours and perhaps that's my misunderstanding.
Do you really think your methods accomplished what you set out for? What *was* it that you set out to accomplish?

But I know two things:
1.The theft is unacceptably.
2. The thief must be publicly punished (if he did not timely repents).
As I see MRKacau have no desire to repent...
By the way I found the other his "works":

Vista ScreenShot (by adni18): WWW Link

reports rips trough the "report button" on the deviation, contact helpdesk, send a email to copyright team, follow Jafo, Fuzzy, and Zubaz councils...
What we shouldn't do?
Spam his page or deviation comments, send harassing messages/PM/emails, insult him, ... well you know

This is what I get for not keeping an eye on the forums over the weekend.
To start off with, I am pretty disappointed with the reaction and behavior I've seen on this thread, and on DeviantArt regarding this particular ripper. This is the sort of behavior that is never called for, never acceptable in any way shape or form. You know why?
The WinCustomize community is better than that. Period. End of story.
I know everyone here takes ripping very seriously and very personally. I do too, and believe me I'm never happy when I find someone ripping someone else's work. But at no point will a situation be made better by an angry mob. In fact, it might make it worse.
Just like at WinCustomize, rips should be reported and handled through official channels. And those channels must be given time to work. This was reported on these forums late Friday night, and the chaos ensued shortly thereafter. dA never had a chance to adequately deal with the complaint before they were forced to deal with multiple users flooding the comments and boards.
When you report a rip, you must give the site staff time to react, just like here at WC, and remember that dA is much larger, so it may take a bit longer. Also remember DeviantArt is a business, so most of its staff likely works regular business hours. So weekends are likely their "off" time.
But above all, always act with civility and politeness. Always. It is very likely that what happened did far more harm than good.

Keep in mind that things were civil until Mr ahole started hiding comments and several kind requests through the proper channels went ignored. It is very to easy to paint us as the bad guys...AFTER THE FACT!
Yes, a mob formed but that's what happens. As individuals, humans are extremely intelligent. As groups we are neanderthals.

Am I proud of my actions.. not really, but you know what.. I'm going to stick by them and boycott DA.
Craig is quite correct in all he said.
Don't be so quick to paint us as the bad guys..

So what if the same is true at dA? The post abuse was handled as best it could by the staff available. Other (full-time) staff might have been needed to ban the user or remove the work. And research likely has to be done. I would not want WC to pull my stuff just because it was reported as a rip. I'd want them to do some checking and that checking takes time.
This incident has brought to light a communication gap that will be tried to be filled. Any further action of the mob can only hinder that.
