Buzzh58 is also in New Zealand like you xskorpx and he has just about same PC as me , uses FF and is on dial up ...but he has not had any of the problems Ive had. I know I have less problems if I get up at 3 am and come here at that time but not always. Yet buzzh58 can be here during my daytime and he still doesnt have the problem of pages loading or the download speeds of 1.1 kbs . All his files download at the normal 5 kbs ( normal for dial up )
I guess maybe they have different servers on the other side of the pond.
I cant get WC profiles or Personal pages to load correctly. Certain profiles wont load at all or if they do all the thumbnails and text all load on the left side of page and it all out of order ( the infamous red text is seen on links ) Open/close Open/close
I can do this for 20 minutes and still not get it to load correctly.
If I get to forum I'm lucky if I can get a post to load all the way.

I have just revisited my Forum Post and read the new comments. Very interesting!
I have subscribed to Stardock (and therefore presumably WC) since Jan 2007.
How do I get rid of the ads? - if they are the cause of my problem, I would like to see them disappear.
Since my last Post, the quickest the Site has loaded has been around 30 sec (my AOL Broadband is "up to 2mbps", which is supposed to be fairly fast). Getting onto the Skin Pages is still a bit of a nightmare.
You seem a knowlegeable crowd (I am a Silver Surfer, with intermediate abilities). Someone out there is no doubt wondering if you suggestions are getting through to my brain - they are!
Many thanks for your Posts
John

Seriously tho, isn't WC a seperate website from SD? Do you get a free sub here if you purchase SD OD?

I just checked your profile. No, you shouldn't see ads as you are a subscriber. Try clearing the cache, log out and log in again.

I have just gone through all my Print Offs of the Stardock Products I have purchased.
Yes, WC is a seperate Account. I had purchased WC after purchasing SD.
DL speed not too bad at the moment - couldn't believe it!

It was only this site I had trouble with, it was always the same time period, didn't matter if I was logged in and recognised as a subscriber or not.
I'd discounted everything on the client side as being the problem. The issues being raised at Wincustomize about site access were nothing like they used to be, so I had to figure the site itself had improved it's access. I was only really left with one thing to deal with, and that was how the connection was being routed.
I was unable to resolve this with my then supplier, so I changed my ISP & Hey Presto - new routing and 24hr access to the site. No more of the eternal wheel spinning while waiting for a script to catch up.

I too am a Stardock and WC subscriber I still get ads. They aren't on the home page, they are on the pages when I go to the Gallery/Visual Styles page. There's a vmware and google ad in the center and a big Circuit City ad down the right side. It's only on that first page. No ads on subsequent pages and it only seems to be on the one gallery page as far as I have checked. I don't see this as a big deal as long as it's not covered in ads. Our subscripton fees and a couple of ads sure provide a really top notch site.
My connections are 2-3 secs. to home page, 5-6 secs. to galleries. I think this is because I have the maximum load per page. If you have any third party security programs (ie: Online Armor)installed, be sure to TRUST these sites if your software allows, as well as adding to trusted sites in IE. I hope everyone gets their speeds worked out.
