First off.......Hullo 
I have a myriad of questions, so I figured I'd just make a general post rather than a myriad of posts...
Who's around that I know or perhaps might have a foggy recollection of who I am? I've been out of this scene for a couple of years, mainly out of focus in the real world. Currently I'm working on my third divorce and I must say I'm getting pretty good at it. It's the being married thing I fail miserably at.
Where's a good starting point, to get started up again with desktop customisation? Obviously I need to get up to date with Object Desktop. Purely speculation, but I'm thinking that a 2-year old version of it isn't going to work as well as the latest and greatest on WinVista. Where to go, what to read...that sort of thing.
LCD monitors make my brain hurt and my eyes go fuzzy. I finally made the leap to LCD and got a 22" widescreen. How in the hell do you get everything to look right? I've messed around with the monitor's settings forever. Things are either too bright, too washed out looking, fonts rarily looking as good as on a CRT. It helped some to drop the resolution from the recommended setting of 1680x1050 to 1440x900, but I still cannot get everything "just right".
Anyway that's it for now, I'm out of coffee and got to get ready for work.

Welcome back Steve! As far as the fonts...you can install and run the Microsoft ClearType power toy and your fonts should look better...at least they do on my lcd screen...set it once and your done.

Picking the right or correct resolution for your LCD is important. It took me awhile to figure that out with my LCD and then I hooked up a 37in LCD TV. Try several it not all the resolutions for you LCD. Find one that works (shows text clearly etc.) Then the other adjustments like clear type come into play.
The reasons recommended setting don't always work is that our eye sight is not what it used to be. The resolution that you finally pick my not look right to me or the next person. You got to set it for you and your eye sight. I wear glasses, biofocals, how about you? Drives me crazy.

Font size is good right now, just need to fiddle with brightness and contrast to try and see if I can keep things crisp looking without being too bright.

One drive is good which had all my media, music, wallpapers, etc. on it. The other, which was the main drive is borked or the motherboard did the big kibbie, not sure which and not too worried about what's on it for the most part.

One of the things I can adjust on my monitor is the focus, by adjusting the clock and clock phase settings. Those terms may be unique to the manufacturer of the monitor (HP w2207). Has anyone had experience with adjusting these settings? Is there a general direction you want to adjust them to...high on clock, low on clock phase, etc.? They do see to impact the clarity of fonts on the screen, hence calling it focus I suppose.
