cant get logons to work

Wednesday, September 12, 2007 by phantomzer016 | Discussion: Windows XP

so i found this site and its pretty sweet, i have gotten some cool stuff, and i downloaded the logonstudio and downloaded another logon but it dosnt work, none of the 1s i have tried do. i have got basically everything else i have tried to work but these dont.

now i noticed that in all the screenshots for these logon it looked like it was windows basic, while i have windows proffesional, would the be the sourse of my problem? and if it is, then r there logon made spefically for proffesional xp?

do you have 'show the welcome' turned on?

is this a home computer with no domain or a computer on a domain? logonstudio doesn't work in a domain environment

yea i have show the welcome turned on, everytime i turn on my comp i have to put in a password.

and yes this is a workgroup computer, im not on a domain.

and yea, so other than that all i can think to mention is i have proffesional and not home edition of XP, but any other ideas as to the problem?

Are you using the English language version of XP? Logon Studio doesn't work with some languages.

Do you have a wireless adapter connected to your computer. Some will not allow Logons to work.

clarify something is logon installed ,so you can click on the shortcut & it's window appears yes ? well you said you downloaded it there's nothing mentioning you actually installed it because it's just like any other software it will install no prob regardless what version of xp you use unless you don't have admin privilages, yes i realise it seems a stupid question to ask if it's installed tho it's how one fault finds by going back to the beginning as you may have clicked on a popup that mentioned a program was trying to run & you've inadvertantly blocked it

Two things first do you have at the first time installed LogonstudioXP selected use Logonxp as default logon or something like that?
Quentin94 can't remember the exact term
second: do you have before installing LogonXP installed a bricopack or a transformation pack? IF yes you need to removed it (if it's a bricopack from CrystalXP you have a chance that you won't have to reformat but if not you'll certainly need to reformat XP cause many of them change XP .dll)

yes xscorpx it is installed but i could see that being a good question to ask some1 who knows nothing about comps just in case...

qentin, im pretty sure ur talking baout when u select ur OS when u first turn on comp, and yea, its default and i use that 1, i also have tried the other 1, my old 1, and that didnt do anything either. and this is my first logon thing ive tried, but i did use a ddl changer on this site becasue i thought i had to, but i forgot o never set it back, which it says will do for u, so i just set my dll back but that still didnt do anything

for reference the dll patcher is here:

Are you the only user ? Logons dont work with only one user account.
I had to add a fake user account to get mine to work.

thats interesting rrh, and yea i only had 1 acount, so i made a fake 1.....but it still didnt make them work also, not sure if i mentioned it or not, but i think it might be helpful to mention that i have windowblinds and bootskin installed on my comp, dunno if that would help to know at all, but thought i would mention it anyways

once you have 2 or more accounts, go into control panel and set the way users log on/off

turn on fast user switching.

I've got the original xp made guest account turned off the only account that's active & shows up in the logon screen is my admin account so i would assume that logon works fine with only one account i can't see why it would need two to be able to run

i have these turned on in the user accounts that Bichur is talking about i thought it may help, the x's inside the brackets denote that those boxes are seleted

[x] use the welcome screen, only need to click on user name etc

[x] use fast user switching etc

ps: having windowblinds installed won't affect it's operation, can't comment on bootskin as it won't run on my BIOS.
