start menu item mouse over

Monday, September 10, 2007 by CraigSnedeker | Discussion: Skinning

Ive seen people make themes where in the start panel, the items (i.e. my documents, firefox, etc) were a custom image, not a blue color. how do i do this? thanks

Check your transparency settings in Skinstudio for the images. The settings are not correct for a .png (.tga).

Make sure that you have the checkboxes for transparency and translucency checked in SKS or else it will be treated like a non-trans image.

not that I can think of unless your not saving your PNG's correctly.

Margins might be out of place. Pumakitten has a great set of tuts here.WWW Link
Think I read something about the margins leaving white lines. Wish I could help you more but I am still trying to make a skin myself. Good luck.

jesus.......try also looking in 'painting options' and make sure perpixel is set to 1 not 0. check the Background Effect and set that to 1 also.

Also click on STartPanel and enable hide shadows.......

hope that helps....

ohh also in accordance with my last post:::

i dont know witch version of skss you have but if it applies, select the transparency options pull-down menu and set it to"use magic pink" i dont remember the exact wording but its a pulldown with three options (use magic pink, use alpha blening, or use per-pixel blending
