How to save changes made to a desktop?

Tuesday, July 24, 2007 by amysteriousman | Discussion: New Users

Hey, all.

I just applied the Lcars DX skin and have been making many changes to the targets for all the buttons, but I want to make sure that if my computer is restarted, I'll be able to retain these setttings. I tried saving the desktop, but now I can't seem to find it anywhere, and when loading up the same desktop (LCARS), it changed everything back to the defaults.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

by default, mine go here: C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\DesktopX\Themes

usually, I'll do a 'save as' then change the name (add a number or something) so if I screw it up later I'll still have the original.

I just tried one. Loaded it, added an object, right clicked the icon, save desktop, unloaded dtx, reloaded, ran the theme and it applied with the new object.

Loaded SSDDDX, changed some shortcuts, save desktop, unloaded dtx, reloaded SSDDDX = new shortcuts intact.

you are in builder mode, yes?

Yep. Definitely keep the zip for a while. I actually delete any theme I haven't used in a long time and keep the zip instead.
