A review of Internet Browsers

Tuesday, July 24, 2007 by Philly0381 | Discussion: Personal Computing

This is one that I'm sure everyone will have an opinion on, which Internet Browser is better. I found this review online, not only gives you a review of features it also rates them. It lists several with three of them being rated Gold, Silver or Bronze. There are probably other reviews out there that would show you something different.

I'm sure this works like anything else, AntiVirus software for instance, if it works for you, fine. If it doesn't work you look for something else.

I do have a question for the inform geeks out there. Are all browsers essential the same program except with a different skin on them, or are there actually different ways to access the internet? Don't laugh, it's a serious question, otherwise why all the talk about my browser is better than yours.

Check out the link you give your comments.

The best browser is the one that "works best for you".  And in my case that would be IE6.  I'm used to IE6.  I like the button layout, as apposed to IE7 and FireFox.  When I try to use another browser, whether it be more powerful or has different features, I feel like I'm walking around the house with the lights off and can't find anything.  So even if that browser may be better it's not necessarily better for me.

I have never used anything but Firefox since it was released. It works for me period. Never was a better browser in this house!

Ditto, ntm being severely hog tied when trying to skin them.

I use both IE7 and Firefox and don't have a problem with either. Now if we can just get Stardock to add a "favorites/bookmark" button.

I also agree with T-Man..... IE6 for me too! Although I occasionally run Neoplanet, just because it's so damn cool.

I've used, alternately, Opera and Firefox for many years. But it got so annoying going to a website either designed for IE or that just flat out wouldn't work properly in anything else (which covers most of my major vendor sites I use for work).

So when IE7 came out with tabs and a pop up blocker, I switched. There are still some things about IE7 that annoy me but .. hey, that's the way it goes.

I use IE7 most of the time but I also have Firefox and use it sometimes. I like them equally.

Thanks for all the replies everyone.

Still waiting for someone to answer the question about whether browsers are essentially all the same program just with a different skin. I guess we will just have to wait for the "geeks" to show up.

Currently IE7 is popping up 'operation aborted' errors with the Wincustomize.com forums....so I actually have been using FF a bit in the past day or two...purely out of frustration....

I use IE7. Once I got past the adjustment period I found it to be the the smoothest functioning tool for surfing. I just don't need all the fluff offered by various FF and other browser plugins. I DO need tabs and I need all websites to function, which I just can't get out of other browsers.

Jafo, thanks for stopping by, I've had the same problem on and off with the forums today but I use the WC browser.
