skin studio XP and window blinds 5.51 help

arghh!...

Thursday, June 28, 2007 by mipmop | Discussion: Skinning

ok well.... i installed skin studio so that i could create some new themes and to test out skin studio i used another random theme and changed it a bit just messing about. The theme is a port of windows vista so it uses the round start orb but when i applied the theme and the orbs top went missing? how do i get that back with skin studio? its now basically the orb cut off to where the task bar stops.

Many thanks in advance for help

Sounds like you deleted the Start button Overlay image.. or you checked the setting for it to NOT show all the time.

What's the name of the skin you were fiddling with so that some of us can download it and maybe find out the problem.

Try re-downloading the skin and applying again (make sure you delete the one you have through WindowBlinds first). The orb is working fine for me.
What version of WindowBlinds do you have?

sorry i might have confused you a little bit, my problem is is that when i edit the theme with only a couple minor changes then applying the edited theme the top of the orb does not show, all other things are fine, its just that one detail thats bugging me.. i cant find out how to stop that from happening.

would it help if i posted a list of unsupported things that skinstudio says it cant do? as i dont understand most of them.

thanks for help btw

version 4.5.1 build 1035

I believe this version is pre oversized start button, that would be why it is not working. Current pro version is 5.0.1 Build 1112. If you have a current Object Desktop subscription open Stardock Central and update to current version.

This is a transformation pack, meaning to attain how it looks in the screenshot there may be several other hacks \ programs needed to get it to look this way. I would avoid it.. there are plenty of other Vista wannabe themes around.

that link i gave was just for the wb skin, in the comments at the bottom it just says here is the link to the vista transformation pack. this skin isn't part of that pack.

Point being, the skin probably doesnt even have a start button overlay image.. some of the earlier Vista themes required a secondary program to make the start button appear correctly. Did it work before you opened it up in SKS? Worst case, use one of the other vista rips, their all pretty similar.
