So Many Things to Add...So Little Knowledge

Monday, June 4, 2007 by JayTee10 | Discussion: Windows XP

Hi all. I am astonished by the artistry and artistic talents of the people who contribute here. Artistically barren myself, I'll always be on the outside pressing my nose against the glass peering in at all the wallpapers, screensavers, widgets, gadgets, cursors and other stuff. My question is, which things, after Windowblinds, wallpapers and screensavers can I use for free and which must I pay for, or upgrade Object Desktop? I'd like to try bootscreens and Logon screens, the rain things and weather widgets, and maybe even the right-click menu makers. Right now I'm using the "Lore" WB and it has all sorts of little add-ons. Can anyone advise me? Thanks.

A lot of the components have free trials (some are time limited, like Windowblinds, and some are feature limited). Bootskin and longstudio are free, I believe there is a free version of DX available, CursorXP has a free version, ObjectDock has a free version. However, if you plan to use many of these programs getting ObjectDesktop is the best value (I just renewed mine for my second year using it).

I agree with Bebi! For myself....when I first got here years ago and saw everything I could do to customize my Pc I just went for it and bought ObjectDesktop....And of all the software I ever shelled out my hard earned money for...ObjectDesktop was the best! I also bought CursorXP Plus & ObjectDock Plus...and I couldn't live with out any of them now.

Thanks all. I thought I had Object Desktop, but I guess all I have is the Object Desktop menu with the links to everything, and I've only actually bought winCustomize.

Oh, BTW, I saw a Windowblind or Suite or Deskscape that honors the FSU Gators. I told a Gators fan about it, but now I don't know where to find it. It was a small ad on the right side of the screen and I never clicked on it. How do I find this? I've already tried advanced search, but I don't know what keywords to use or who designed it. If you have any information I'd be very appreciative.
