4 States on Task Bar Dock

Wednesday, May 30, 2007 by sirbabyface | Discussion: Docks

Hi,

On the usual windows taskbar, this has 4 states:
  • Selected (active window)
  • Not selected
  • Flashing (when some thing occurs, like a new Instant Message)
  • Require attention (after the flashing state)
Currently the Object Dock v. 1.9 only has 2 states, selected and flashing. There is no difference between the not selected and required attention from the selected state.

Can this be implemented on the new version of Object Dock?

My suggestions would be to have a effect that could be used for these new states, like glow, transparency or colour overlay. Also the selected state could have an triangle saying that this is the active. Or just me normal and the unselected would be more transparent. These are just thoughts that I think make sense.

Currently when I've several Instant Messages, I don't know which I didn't read yeat.

If some else think that this is a valid idea, please comment.

I have made sure that the developers have seen this to see what they think.

I second that. I'd like to have a full replacement for the Windows task bar.
