How do I make Side Tabs?

The Aero-XP desktopX theme just won't work for me because I run at 1440x900. I have myself a good desktop I like with a few desktopX widgets and an objectdock bar.
I'm trying to find out how to make some easy side tabs like located in Aero-XP that I can put often used programs in for quick access.
