Good Bye Forums
It hasn't been fun
Friday, May 18, 2007 by Z71 | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk
But the same thing happens every time. I make a comment and someone will critique, add to, take it the wrong way or just state the obvious about something I've said.
I've even tried to help people and there will always be other people that will come in and just totally rip what advice I give. Some people think it's fun to give little jabs. I'm not the only one this happens to, I'm just the one going away. It's not worth it anymore. I haven't given up just don't need the BS anymore.
This isn't a pitty party. I'm just letting everyone know that I won't be around the forums. If anyone would like help or advice, they can contact me.
If I have an announcement I'll post but that will be about it.
I know this will hurt my chances of moving up in the ranks here at Wincustomize, but it's the price I'll have to pay. No one else.
I guess I'm not a people person cause the forums are just not for me.
Now, please, have fun picking this apart....

Thats not true at all...if its given in the spirit of helping someone then it serves a purpose...
Saying this looks like shit isnt helping anyone.
Z71...for whats its worth..your blinds were once the only ones Id use. Yours and Brewmans. To me , I am not into the bells and whistles. If I can't actually use the blind then its not my cup of tea. Im hoping you will find time to update some of my old favourites.
Good story to start my day, after your day - mine can't be any worse..
Now thats just plain silly, no one 'hates' you...but,tossing that comment on this thread is just not the way to go either...

Hate is a powerful word. I was thinking more along the lines of " disliking your comments."
I would really doubt that anyone "hates" Z71. To me he is a great artist of skins that has given to this community a great deal of time and effort and that demands some respect. If he wishes to reframe from the forums then so be it.
Heres hoping that your days get better Z71. Good luck to you.

The unfortunate thing is that text can easily be taken the wrong way...and once that happens it just goes downhill from there and the rest is history. The other is that some people have no sense of humor and rather than laugh along they claim people are making fun of them.
When entering the internet make sure you have thick skin...a sense of humor...some patience...or the ability to ignore things that are clearly off the wall.

I'm not like most or the community, I don't leave 1000 comments a day.
I usually leave a comment or two a week, if that. Sometimes less.Maybe it's my fault. I don't leave enough comments for people to get a feel of what I'm like and who I am. I only post if I feel I have something to contribute. I never post just to pass the time.
As someone said, in another thread, I'm acting like a little kid and I should just go home. Nothing personal, right?

So, in a way, that's what I'm going to do.

The main reason for this thread, was to inform people, that if they want or need any help from me, they can contact me. There have been many times over the years, people email me and are disappointed that I didn't answer thier post, with some helpful advice (I just didn't see it). See, that's how I am. This community has given so much to me, that I "want" to give back and be of some help.
I don't do it by calling people names, back biting, or just being plain rude, no matter who you are. I wasn't raised that way. Oh, there have been times, where I "do" stand up and fight. But that's been very sparse.
I do have to say that even if this wasn't my thread, I like how everyone has interacted with each other. It's been really nice. Now this is a community I can be proud of.
Oh, and my leg is healing nicely. Thanks for asking, seldomseen.
EDIT:
This was meant to be after mrs starkers comment. I guess I spoke just a tad to soon.

So why should people have to grow a thick skin? This is a hobby, it is supposed to be fun. It stops being fun when you constantly have to put up with other people's crap. People should not have to feel unwelcome just because one or two are either insensitive or just plain rude.
There was a time I spent hours a day on this message board, now I rarely stop by. I just prefer doing other things - things where I don't have to put up with aggro. Well? Why should I?
It's all too easy to be rude long distance isn't it? People who are rude, call names, 'don't give a toss' etc., are just cowards. But sometimes enough is enough and you have to call it a day. It shouldn't have to be that way, but often it is.
Kind of makes me think about all the familiar names no longer around - maybe they had enough too.

No one has to..but I would advise it.. I just think that forums typically aren't the place for those who offend easily or are sensitive by nature. Like you said it's easy to be rude long distance, so knowing that.. better to toughen up a little if your going to hang around.. To me.. WC is rather a friendly place indeed..I find most people are helpful and cordial..I also try to be as nice and helpful as I can. I honestly don't see what the fuss is about, everyone has something mis-construed at some point..I myself am stalked at every turn right here on WC not in a misunderstood way but in an accusatory fashion..yet.. no one seems to give a crap one way or the other... Oh well.. I move on. If you want a forum hard knocks lesson.. go hang out on Neowin a bit...or hard knocks in general..try Glasgow, Scotland..circa 1978

Almost. Every. Day. [lol!]
I find myself leaning on the bathroom sink, staring into the bloodshot eyes in the mirror, mumbling "I can do this...I can."
Hope your leg's cool. Nice when clients come back again, I know well. Esp. when the bills are due and I'm moving one acct. to another, trying to cover.
Heard once, "For everyone else the birds sing...for me they s__t!"
