Vista Shellstyles

Thursday, May 17, 2007 by c242 | Discussion: WindowBlinds

Okay, I know there is a folder called 'Vista Images' in the WB folder, but no matter what I do to the 'bar2.bmp', any skin will not apply it. So my question is, where the heck does WindowBlinds take the Vista shellstyle from for skins not having the vista bits in the uis ? Any help (or a skinstudio update ) appreciated.

Lol.. I told you that you wont be able to use that image until wb6. I thought you said you got it to work?

Yes, but only until the next reboot. Don't know, what happened...

Well, I know the color can be recolored eg: Optix shellstyle, but I know for a fact the image can't be used.

You need these in your UIS file.

[Vista.Shell]
Image=SkinName\vistashell.bmp

[Explorer.InfoPane]
Image=SkinName\explorer_infopane.bmp

Vista.Shell is the top bar (the one with Organize, Views, etc.) This appears to be what the bar2.bmp image is for. Of course, you can call the images any name you want.

Explorer.InfoPane is the bottom bar (the one at the bottom with the big icon and the file information.)

Does that help?

If you open the Optix (Vista) skin in SkinStudio, and look at the Unsupported section at the bottom of the list, you can find a few other currently skinnable Vista bits. That would also help you track down the images I used for each section if you need to figure out what sizes to make things.

Seems I was given some incorrect info on that particular image. Thx for clearing that up Mike.

Here goes more Vista codes to you add in your UIS (all sampler images you need are inside the "Vista Images" folder in the WB folder.
-> Replace "SKIN_NAME" with the name of your skin.

PS. I name the file "bar2.bmp" as "vista_toolbar.bmp" in my code.

How can I make it load correctly. The shellstyle goes away and reverts back to the origional. I can't even make it work again. All I did was reboot.

But this does not work for some reason.

I deleted all the .wb4 files, then they come back the next time I load the theme.

Is there something I am missing? maybe in the code somewhere?
