How do I remove Recycle Bin???

Tuesday, May 15, 2007 by mitchd2100 | Discussion: Windows XP

I am using ObjectDock to put everything neatly on my desktop, but the only thing I cant remove from the desktop is the Recycle Bin. It just sits in the top corner staring at me and its starting to make me a little nervous lol   . Any help to get rid of this would be most appreciated???

Download Tweak UI from Microsoft. It has an option to remove the recycle bin from the desktop. WWW Link

Whenever I did that, some of my wallpapers got distorted. I prefer TweakUI.

Tweak UI def. the best and easiest. Plus, it has bunches of other goodies in it.

If you have DX3 you can go into Builder mode and hide the icons - Also SysMetrix has the option to hide icons. The great thing with both is that your wall won't be distorted.

I have two registry tweaks that I have used for years. To remove the bin just double click the "Hidebin" and if you ever want it back just double click the "Showbin".
Anyway, here is the link for the files: http://www.filefactory.com/file/4fdbf2/

I wouldn't recommend hacking into the registry for anything when the above methods work without issue and are safe.

It's not really hacking and they work perfectly fine, without any third party "Tweak" programs, but whatever suits your needs.
Just tryin' to help out.
