DesktopX 4 Features

What are we to expect?

Thursday, May 10, 2007 by TwoWolves | Discussion: OS Customization

Can anyone point me to a list or do they know what new features are planned in DesktopX 4?

Is it worth suspending anything you are working on and waiting for the new features?

Would love to know...

Well DesktopX 3.5 is next up, and one of the main features for that is the ability to export to Sidebar Gadgets.

That has been made clear Island, I was wondering, seeing as it has been anounced that version 4.0 will be part of OD 2008 what ideas were being mooted for that?

If its still up in the air can I vote for scripting support for a "proper" language like c# or Java? It could use support for more controlled threading.

Java

My RAM just screamed out in agony.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, both c# and Java are programming languages not scripting per say? Both of which have lot's of development tools/compilers. Not to mention the fact that DesktopX is a "scripting" platform.

I think it's more prudent to stick to web friendly languages. Just my two cents.
