running 2 anti virus programmes?

im running 2 anti virus programmes (nod32 and BitDefender (standard)).
ive heard that its not good to run 2. which one should i carry on using?

Po' is right. they can conflict with each other. i do however have nod32,and it's top notch. i have never had a problem with it. it is a little more advanced than some but i did a pretty thorough check of anti virus software and found nod32 to be one of the best out there. i have never used avast so i can't say anything about that. nod32 is a little more $$ but to me it's worth it.

Definitely only use 1 anti virus, and according to many different reviews nod32 is by far the best antivirus......now this will be disputed by those that use BitDefender or another program 
I am basing my information on different reviews done by over a dozen reputable companies over a period of months.
As Po' suggested do a google search and do 1 for the different reviews as well. This way you make an educated choice. IMHO it is always best to research throughly via many different reviews as well as public opinion.
Now I use AVG Pro and am waiting till my subscription runs out...never had any problems....but I will be getting nod32.

I also highly recommend NOD32. There's nothing that even gets close to it, and their technical support is suberb (no, I don't work for them  , but I had a chance to try it out and always got a reply within a couple of hours - even on weekends!).
As for running two AV solutions together, DONT'T do it! Due to its nature, AV software hooks deeply into the OS - and you can't have two AV programs competing for the same resources without something breaking.

Sort of going along with this topic, is it bad to have two anti-spyware programs? I'm using AVG Anti-Spyware and Ad-Aware.

No, anti spyware is different. Try adding Spybot to your list too. Each may catch what the others miss.

No, anti spyware is different. Try adding Spybot to your list too. Each may catch what the others miss.

only have 1 antivirus running, if u have 2 they could conflict with each other, NOD32 is a great antivirus and if you team it with antispyware programs you should very rarely be affected by viruses and spyware if at all, good luck

I did it when I got my new PC, and stuff got missed a lot. Then I started asking around like you're doing.
I am not familiar with either proggie you are running. What I use is Avast. It's free. I have seen Avast and AVG highly recommended as far as good, solid, free anti-virus programs.
Personally, I like Avast because you cab set it to run with your screensaver and also do Boot-time scans which run much faster than a regular scan .
