A 3ds max to .dream tutorial
Part 2 - AVI to .dream
This tutorial will go though the creation and conversion of a dream created in 3ds max.
Needed Software:
3ds max (Part 1)
SUPER (Part 2)
Concept:
The goal of this part of the tutorial is to take the 1280x720 and 300x300 AVI videos we made in 3ds max and convert them into mpeg and swf files respectively. This will be done with the freeware program called SUPER. There are better paid programs such as Adobe Premiere Elements and Adobe Premiere Pro. But, since SUPER does the whole job for free, we'll be using that.
SUPER:
In windows Explorer, open the directory where you saved your AVI files. Drag and drop the 1280x720 AVI video into the empty gray box near the bottom in the SUPER dialog. The window usually moves. I don't know why. You'll notice the 1, 2, and 3 list boxes. Set the 1 list box to mpg (Mpeg II). The 2 list box will set itself to MPEG-II. Since there's no Audio, we don't care about 3. Under the three list boxes, there's some radio buttons. Make sure it's Set to MEncoder. Under the Radio buttons, Are the video controls. Make sure the Video Scale Size is set to NoChange. The Aspect is ignored when you set the Video Scale Size to NoChange so there's no need to touch it. The Frame/Sec should be set to 30. You may remember it was set to 30 in 3ds max. It's important that these number match. The Bitrate can only be set to a max of 9600. Not sure why. Hi Quality should already be checked, if it's not set it. Check Disable Audio. Now, right click on the AVI file in the gray box. Click Output File Saving Management. Choose the directory you want to save the mpeg file.
The settings should look similar to the image above. Click the Encode (Active Files) Button. This will take a few minutes.
Select the AVI in the gray box and press the delete key. Drag and drop the 300x300 AVI video into the empty gray box near the bottom in the SUPER dialog. Change the 1 list box to swf. The radio buttons will be not be selectable. Under the Radio buttons, Are the video controls. Make sure the Video Scale Size is set to NoChange. The Frame/Sec should be set to 30. The Bitrate can only be set to a max of 3600.
