Non-Skinning With Permission?
Posting Wallpapers You Like

If someone was banned for posting inappropriate material and you reposted it with permission, you would be banned.
If you posted someone's material (with their permission) it would be accepted (as long as it met the other WC guidelines).
Over the years other people have pulled their skins or asked that their skins be removed. It would be unlikely that they would ask someone or grant permission for someone else to post their work here.

Again, I would rather see original artists post original work. The system allows and has always allowed for other works to be posted with permission. Some may take this "letter of the law" and use it to stretch the spirit and that's ok too.
In the end, we get more art here, right?
What would be a better answer?

Soooo What if someone is getting downloads? Big frikkin to do. If they take credit for making it, hang em.

We'll never know because I would never upload others' material for the sake of garnering 'download' counts. Which just seems the case when you upload Art from other sites.
Then there will always be the question of 'is the permission' real ?
How many times has it turned out that there was no permission at all. People lie.
I have taken the time to check on occasion when I have seen Artwork posted here that I knew I already had..and it turned out that the original artist didn't even know their work was here.
But, these are the rules so be it.

Or . . they are presenting art that they think the community here might like and the other artist doesn't want to spend teh time.

Stealing, ripping, and the like have never been tolerated here People like yourself being involved and interested in the copy rights of the artists is a great check and balance for the less honest among us.
I, for one, appreciate your efforts and encourage you to continue them. Thanks Fairyy~

Do you recall a certain person that ported a billion MS style blinds and did nothing to them then referred to them as " My windowblind" ? Tell me that didn't annoy you after spending 3 weeks skinning a blind.......and would you really want to see that again ?
Why are you a green dot ?

and I will continue to report rips. Its not something I can just overlook..I know how much work some put into their work and its just not right for someone to claim it as their own.

it was never my intention for a fight to break out over it .
Just a simple wall with permission attached that I thought all would
like. With 650 downloads in one day i guessed right !
Thats is ironic isnt it ?
All my replies were based on Boss's original post and had nothing to do with 'the wall' because the wall and author are not mentioned and I never even got to see it...
Bummer Dude....

The wall in question was first posted as a *Vista logon, correct?..
Usually, when permission is gained from the artist to use their work for "whatever" "project" a link directing downloaders to the original piece is given in the decription The reason being is that the original author not only gains due "notoriety" but also people may find other works at that authors site that may wish to either purchase or download as well..
You did not break any rules "persay".. the issue is really more about how you went about it, Proper or No? It may be "legal" but you wont be the most popular person with many of the skinners here that work hard on what they "contribute" to the community... But thats what you will have to deal with.

*Very Excellent point!...
I have seen so many people "Hosting" other peoples work on their site with the simple rule stated "If you use this "Note me" and link to my page"

Without question, the wall you posted is an extremely nice photo. Had it not been for you posting it I may never have seen it. I think your intentions were honorable and you meant no ill will.
I made a comment concerning a different "small issue" I had with it, but that is an entirely different topic (which is addressed in another thread here) altogether.
NightTrain,
There is a HUGE difference between posting someone elses wall, with no modifications vs a windowblinds port. You above all should know that. Yeah, If I just "click, port, and upload" then I would agree with you. Ask Pas or Brewman if they port like that. They will laugh at you
. A properly done port takes time.Fuzzy,
Ask Jafo for the email I sent to him last night.
Zubaz and anyone else involved in the rule call...
I for one, think that if this is going to be ok to do with wallpapers that at least a link to the original source be included in the permission file or description. It might help with the honesty factor, and the original artist may appreciate the added exposure to thier work elsewhere.

I think all author at time he take the work of an other author for any works same or other with or without changing need to have the permission AND credit the original author too it's the less thing he can make. This is called respect. I'm not a angel and i've made mistake like many people.
Azdude just don't think it's you the problem here for him i think (maybe i'm wrong) the mater for boss is take a wall/shot of another to make wall here. I know you want just share it to us. But to original question is good i think and port on general not in particular issue. now i agree with you that mods/admins here make their staff and a good in more. like i have said before in another place before publish my work in an other place like DA i always wait the decision of them.

I want to be able to come here and find good wallpapers. Period.
As long as the person has permission or the wallpaper was designed to be widely distributed and it's good then I want it here.
Why should I have to comb dozens of sites to find good wallpapers?

It gave an answer to the question for ALL to see and the rules to abide by.
Perhaps , but I never mentioned anything about " Banned Artwork" that was tossed in as an extra...
But I guess we have the answer etched in stone now - Anything goes as long as you have that little permission note enclosed.
No need for further discussion...
