Upload fails still

Monday, March 5, 2007 by 00NukE | Discussion: Animated Wallpapers

Seems that any dream over 29/30 megs fails to upload period.

I have tried 3 times today with old and new upload page 34 meg dream fail every time.  85megs for the sand dream how you upload that ?

"Your skin has failed to upload.
Details: No screenshot file. This is valid for updates only.
The skin file you are attempting to upload is not valid.
When uploading a new skin, your Skin file must also be submitted."

get the above error everytime I try, Oh and yes the screenshot file is included.

Is there a limit to dream size ????

Sorry that this is taking so long.  The problem is buried deep in our code and is somewhat difficult to track down.  We are adding in more debug information on our end that will show up on Monday that should help us track down the issues with the new upload page.  (https://www.wincustomize.com/upload2.aspx)

You can be sure that we will continue to work on this issue until it disappears.

Thanks,
Dean

For those having issues with https://www.wincustomize.com/upload.aspx please try https://www.wincustomize.com/upload2.aspx we will be moving to upload2.aspx (and getting rid of https://www.wincustomize.com/upload.aspx) once the kinks are worked out.

This morning we added more debug information for us to track down the issues that you are seeing.  The new page (upload2.aspx) will also give you more of an idea as to what went wrong on your end if you accidentally try to upload an incorrect file format.

Thanks for your patience,

Dean

Hi...

Same error, same message, same procedure as always... I'm trying to upload a 37Mb dream, after upload reaches 100%, appears a message saying my work is being processed and then a new page appears with this final message (known to all):

Your skin has failed to upload.
The skin file you are attempting to upload is not valid.
When uploading a new skin, your Skin file must also be submitted.

Note: Please give credit where credit is due if you have based your skin off the work of others. Skins submitted to the Stardock File Library may also be made available in archives, collections, compilations, libraries, or the like without prior additional notification (all author credits will be maintained).

PS: I've stopped using the old upload page a long time ago, with that page the upload used to begin and after 3/4Mb gave a new IE error page saying that IT could not connect to the page I was trying to display...

Hope this is corrected asap, because it's been like this more than a month now... It's like 00NukE said, if this continues I'll quit for good...

I am sure that Stardock wants it fixed more than you do.  They have been very good about keeping the community informed.

If you are that unhappy with the FREE service you are getting here . . maybe it's time to move on.

But what would be better, would be to keep trying to upload.  Each failure gives more data on what is wrong and what needs to be fixed.

I uploaded two dreams last Tuesday, and they said they worked, but I haven’t got a response from WinCustomize about them. Am I being impatient, or did it not work even though it reported success? Since tomorrow is day 7, I’ll upload them again using the version 2 tool and see what happens.

The Free service i'm getting from them? And what about the free content they are getting from me?...
What would be this site made of, if users stopped sharing their FREE work?... You are just a little wrong on thinking that it is only me that should be enourmsly grateful... This works for both sides, not only one...

Bye.

Uh.....it sounds to me like Stardock is trying to work it out. If you want instant, try some Folger's Crystals. These processes take time; no way around that. I work with databases all day, 7 days a week; I can get impatient with glitches, but in the end I know that they can be stubborn little cusses and I end up just having to wait.

I have tried to re-uploaded my 2 new dreams using the version 2 upload tool, and while my large dream of 29MB reported success, my smaller dream of 13MB failed with the following error:

Your skin has failed to upload.
The skin file you are attempting to upload is not valid.
When uploading a new skin, your Skin file must also be submitted.

I then turned around and used the version 1 tool for the dream that just gave me an error, and it reported success.

Hi all,

For those getting errors where it is saying that your skin file must also be uploaded (or skin file is invalid), we put a new fix up today.

eg. The skin file you are attempting to upload is not valid.

Just as a reminder, this is for the new page only https://www.wincustomize.com/upload2.aspx

We will be continuing to monitor the debug information that we are getting to work out any other bugs that may arise.

Thanks,
Dean

Hi
I have managed to upload a dream larger than the 30meg limit I seemed to hit, this dream was 37meg so the new fix has worked for me.

Thanks will keep you posted.
