You may go to the Martin's homepage and download the Base Weather DX object: WWW Link
You will see how to add this option to your Weather widget (look at the lines with information about Weather alets).
As I remember you can extract this data from RSS by tag "swa".

I'm very sorry if you faced with any problems. 
But I think that it will be much cool if each of us will add some novelties into each created widget. We will study DesktopX together by this way.
No doubt I can help you with this. But I need have a part of your script which gets the XML file to make the necessary changes in it. Can you post it here? (It takes a few minutes and your widget will show you weather alerts...)
