What is the best video water ripple effect plugin for dreams?

Wednesday, February 28, 2007 by xgman | Discussion: Animated Wallpapers

I'm wondering what program and plug-in effect is the best to use to add water ripple effects to pictures of lakes, etc, to then convert to a reasonably hi def video for dreams?  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

I just got this one for free yesterday on the Give Away of the Day site. I created a really nice dream with it and I'm waiting for it to be approved. Here are the links to the program and my dream.

Hope this is helpful,

wow that's got to be one of the best waterfall dreams I've seen yet.
The only gripe I have with it are the ripples at the bottom of the screen - they're moving WAAAY to fast (or something... it don't look right).

MasterBaron if you could fix that little detail it would be a rocking dream

Yosmel, I reworked the water, and added some small details. You can get the new dream here.

Another Waterfall v2

Be sure to clear your DreamScape cache before running this new dream as it has the same name as the one I posted earlier and DreamScape will use the old video file. You can get a .bat file from my website that makes it easy to do.

Awesome. Im gonna take another look at it. Thanks for actually listening to me, it truly is one of the best waterfall dreams I've seen yet. Downloading as I type this

Also - It appears that the link to your batch file isnt working quite right. There's got to be a way to clear the cache through explorer, wont simply deleting temp files and the such do the trick?

Try and right-click on the link and do a save-as to save it to your hard drive. Then find it and double click it. Or, you can manually delete the cache by deleting this folder: C:\ProgramData\Stardock\DeskScapes\ExtractedData

Thanks for the compliment. I have made even more tweaks to after this last upload, but I think I'll let it run a while on my desktop before I upload it again to make sure it's "finished"

Not when I checked (last night either) - today is a registry cleaner - the trial version of Nature Illusion is available at their home site.

If anyone uses XP you can try this little program WWW Link . It's called GT Ripple.
From the website:

What is GT Ripple?
GT Ripple ripples your desktop wallpaper making water pictures come alive. You can even put a lake into a picture that has no water by using the mirror option!

I used this before works pretty good.

And if you turn it vertical - and paint lightly - you can get a heat rising effect of fires, torches, etc.

I used Nature Studio to make a ripple AVI and converted it to a .dream, but then it wouldn't play when I choose it in dreamscape. What compression type should be used in Nature Studio when making tghe avi?

xgman,

Choose "Microsoft Windows Media Video 9" and it will create a .wmv file instead of an .avi file.

you can then put AVI file in most movie making programs and convert to mpg or wmv from there -
