Tuesday, February 27, 2007 by HauntingMorgana | Discussion: Wallpapers
I uploaded a wallpaper entitled
Revelate.
However, it does not appear in the wallpaper section. One of the ones that I last uploaded does however.
I go to my profile and see it fine.
any ideas? I'm stumped!
Michael.

Walls used to be rejected. Now they are almost always approved bu may be regulated to your personal page.
For what it's worth, I have seen afew walls that hae gotten huge downloads from teh personal pages so don't sweat it too much, it's all good.
I have another wallpaper that has done quite well, even though it too never made it into the main viewing gallery. Oh, and that one does not show up in my user account now, because WC changed my username from Crotale to Crotale20, even though my link to the skinpage still works.
I should not have to go through all kinds of hoops just to get my work published and viewed. It is one thing to not accept a piece because it didn't meet the criteria, but to publish it in a way that is buried deep within the bowels of the site is actually a worse slap in the face than having said work declined. At this point, I am discouraged enough to make no further attempts at publishing anything on this site. Good game WinCustomize.

I suggest you can pimp your site and your work yourself. Skinners can develop a following and get visability that way. There are some skinners whos site I visit knowing that they have work that I like even if it doesn't make the main gallery.
I'm sorry you don't like the system, but as you might expect, people were upset about work being summarily rejected too.
You can't please all of the people all of the time.

May I ask, how do I "pimp" my gallery here at WC? Sure, I can publish links to it on other sites, but how do I make my works more available on this site from within? After all, isn't that the purpose of using such a site? If I have to draw a userbase from outside the site, then I am only using WC as a storage spot. Heck, I have my own webserver for that. Sorry if I seem to be a bit of a dimwit here, lol.
This isn't just about me. I noticed that there are quite a few people in the same boat, as you mentioned earlier.

Add it as a sig in the forums or any mail. Get more skins accepted in the main gallery and in the description mention you personal site.
WC wants the best skins showing in the galleries, it's as simple as that. First impressions count. But no one wants your work to be lost. If it didn't make the main gallery and you don't want it on your personal site, delete it. It will be as if the mods rejected it.
Keep up the good work, the main gallery awaits.
