My PC.....Gone!
Why......

So after testing the video card and a few others things it all seemed to check out except the fan on the PSU wasn't working. So a trip to CompUSA yielded me a brand new PSU unit in which it cheerfully installed as soon as I returned home. Got everything connected and nothing, no POST......no nothing. Swapping parts in and out and nothing seemed to remedy the situation, and the consensus seemed to be the motherboard had gave in.
Of course! Just weeks before a move so something had to break, right? Well several hours on Newegg I finally got enough parts to build a really nice Core 2 Duo system. It's been a while since I built a complete system and it seems now most motherboard will only accept two IDE devices, which sucks, because I have four. Hard Drives are so cheap I guess it won't hurt just to pick up a SATA drive to put Vista on. I also have this brand new AGP Nvidia 7600GS that is useless now as well, but maybe not.
With Windows Home Server approaching I might have just enough spare parts to make a nice box for it. Sounds like a new project for me.

It would be nicer without the move at the same time...but in a month you'll be happy as can be.

I'm happy to have a new system, Vista was getting sluggish on the other, but the timing is what is the worst.

But I won a contest where I got a motherboard, graphicscard, RAM, case and PSU. It's been lying idle now creating a breeding ground for dustbunnies. But the problem is that the motherboard had a 939 socket, and that type of processor is not being made anymore. And more and more suppliers don't stock them. So I figured I had to jump on it while I still could. So I've placed an order for a CPU, heatsink, HD and a DVD drive.
I'm quite curious on how this new system will stack up against my old one. Lets see how much impact dual core and SATA drives got.
This is the beginning of my own little renderfarm. ...which reminds me, I really need to get this cow theme done. I want each computer in my renderfarm to have a cow name and have a cow theme applied. Each with it's own variation ofcourse.
