What do you want to see in an ObjectBar theme?
If you ask, I may build it
Tuesday, February 13, 2007 by ZubaZ | Discussion: ObjectBar
There were a lot of reasons why OB doesn't lend itself to skinning but I took a shot at it and knocked out a pretty good bar. You can see it here. It's gotten more downloads than I would expect but it didn't generate many comments nor does it appear to have generated the urge for anyone else to post their own bars.
So here I am, looking to improve my skills a bit and maybe help out the community.
I have no artistic skills. I have no coding skills. OB doesn't require a master to make something useful though so I have a chance.
Expect that anything I make will use the (brilliant) function to apply the existing WB skin. Excpect that anything I make that needs DX widget support will leverage existing widgets. If they don't fit with the look and feel I may ask one of the real coders to knock something out; otherwise I'll use the best I can find.
I'm open to try almost anything. What do you want in a bar?

You know, if Zoomba featured this it'd be all cool to comment . . . but just me, not so much traffic.
If I don't get some kind of feedback, I'm going to cry. No one (excluding RomanDA, Island Dog, Bebi Bulma, Zoomba, Frogboy, and about 40 other people) wants that now do they?
BUMP!

Well you have to gripe to the RIGHT people! Thats how things get done mate!
Since its not something I use, I cant offer suggestions, or maybe you can tell me why i need to use it?

One thing I REALLY REALLY want to see is..
HOW ABOUT A !@#$% MANUAL THAT PEOPLE CAN UNDERSTAND
Trying to figure out how to make an OB theme makes my teeth itch.

You can see it by going to the ObjectBar product page at Stardock.com and clicking on the Documentation link.
Or just go there directly.

One thing that is missing though is a section for Creating a new OB Skin. That is where I am having the most trouble putting this together. SkinStudio has a section for creating an OB Skin but it's a tad daunting.
Thanks for the great job!

Phoon, I agree, the tut doesn't. I'm no skinner, nor a coder, and it was beyond me.
I'm going to be taking apart some of teh bars that were shipped with OB2 and start seeing how I can break them. I'll report on my successes and failures here and maybe write a new tut for that.

I know everyone's having Vista Dreams but I thought I'd give myself a bump; see if anyone cares about OB.
