Funny. My Ubuntu machine is running and surfing the Internet and I didn't have to deal with command prompt any more than I do on Windows.
Linux may have a past reputation, but they seem to be changing that.
I won't touch Macs because I like to build my own machine, thank you very much. If Mac put out an O/S for a PC platform, I'd give it a go, but as long as they control the hardware end, I don't plan on using them.

As long as you don't use too new wireless cards. I have two Pre-N cards I cannot use on my homework laptop.
Otherwise it's a great experence.

Vista seems to run quite good for me. It does have it quirks, and yes it's still somewhat buggy, but alot of the ideas implemented are things that needed to be done. It runs very fast for most things I do, the major problems arent with the OS itself, but other companies getting up to speed with their programs and drivers. I'm having to run nvidia beta drivers just to get my SLI working, and it doesnt work great. The soundcard drivers are lacking as well(creative). I've not had any program or hardware NOT work with it as of yet, though some dont work that as well as they should.

Vienna
Give Microsoft time to get the
kinks out, perfect the system and of course allows me time to save up for the 6 or 8 Gbs of Ram that the newest OS will likely need
I know that there are a thousand good reasons to switch to Vista now...this putter is quite capable but there are a million more not to at this time
Driver & program updates being the main ones. It's My Secret
knowing microsoft, you'll probably need 32 GB's of ram when they release the new OS..especially with all the crap they have running in the back ground

I believe it is 100% of mac fanatics.
I'm one of those mac fanatics
I got my first mac back in 06 and I will never turn back to winblows! BTW: it's true how vista copied OS X, see david pougue's vid on itReply #29 Tuesday, May 15, 2007 4:19 PM
. I wonder if they'll be able to pull off a secure way to do it?Reply #30 Tuesday, May 15, 2007 6:52 PM
Bottom line: I say MS make a Vista SP1/SP2 patch, which will turn your Vista set-up into stable and reliable system MS had originally intended. Hmm, maybe they can call the next patch "Vienna", which changes your Vista computer into a new Vienna system, complete with new themes, colors, bootskins, wallpapers, logon screens, dreamscenes (even for Basic and Premium), etc, etc.

Microsoft ain't all that and a bag of chips, but then either is the Mac, which, in case you missed it, is now a PC.
HAHAHAHA! Good one
and i think they are like 100% not 3%Reply #35 Tuesday, October 21, 2008 4:55 AM
Vienna is used for running a basic HTTP server and MinWin is a stripped down version of the Windows kernel that will be used as the foundation for Windows Vienna.

XP Sp1 official genuine, (I know you can upgrade with Windows update, I'm talking here about the SETUP)
- Doesn't like SATA HDD's
- Hmmm dual core?!?! it sees my Intel Core 2 Duo and AMD Athlon 64 X2 as a single 800Mhz CPU
- PCI-Express Ethernet card: everything (including windows updates) are successful once every 5 times. The rest of the time, the file is corrupted, or clock at 99%.
Of course the millisecond you upgrade to SP2, everything works perfectly.
This can take up to a full day of work
Umm... why don't you just create a slipstreamed SP2 boot disc? That way you just lay down a new copy of XP that's already at SP2 and not have to worry about all that stuff.
