How do I take a screen shot of my desktop?

I just looked a lot of nice screen shots by members and I would like to submit mine can I get some help.

Rumshot or alternatively ctrl + prt scr and paste into paint or something.

FastStone Capture has worked well for me - does selected shots of parts of the screen or full-screen, then it dumps the shot into a clipboard so you can save it where you want it.

If you use Object Dock, there's also a Capture Docklet
