Logon Studio and Bootskin and Multiple monitors
Wednesday, January 24, 2007 by The__Goo | Discussion: OS Customization
My questions is...
First, can you (regarding the bootscreen) get the the image to appear on all monitors or just the default. I have to assume you can only show on the default, due to the fact that the video drivers haven't loaded. right ???
Second, can you make the logon screen (logonstudio) get the the image to appear on the other monitors, either by creating a logon resolution to span, or maybe assigning images to the other monitors. I looked at logonstudio and didn't see where the resolution of the image can be changed. It seems to only allow the image to fit into the specific area.
Is there a fix for this? I am going to assume that something can be done because at the welcome screen, I can move the mouse to all the monitors, but the logon screen only shows on the primary monitor.

For bootskin, I have found that for it to show on both monitors, they both have to be plugged into the same graphics card (with nvidia sorry not sure about ATI).
You can change which monitor it appears on by:
Swap the monitor connections.
OR
Selecting the interface (AGP/PCIe/PCI) of the card in the bios, under "Primary Graphics Adapter" or similar. (Only works if graphics cards are in different type slots. ie not in SLI or Crossfire systems)
As for logonstudio to display on both you will have to set the two displays to horizonal/vertical span in the graphics driver options. This treats the 2 displays as 1 large screen.
This will not not work with nvidia's Dualview.
You will then have to edit the logon in logonstudio increasing the size of the image/use a bigger image to fill the combined resolution of the 2 screens and reposition elements so they appear on the screen you want them on.
Hope this helps, and good luck.

As for logon....mine span both monitors but are obviously stretched. I am currently working on a log-on just for dual monitors to see how well it works and is received.

in edit, click the center pic - under style is pic width and height - change the numbers
if you blank them out to put in a new number, LS crashes (at least on me) - but you can work around it
I only got one monitor - got no idea on the other questions
